    Hi,

About a month ago i started up rofl-blog on tumblr, and since then, have posted around 5 pics, every day, with reblogs ranging from 20 - 1,500.

I've got google adsense banners (3 of them!) on the home page, and have had around 1,500 homepage views, but very few clicks.

Nonetheless, when i got hold of Captain Jack's follow code.... i started getting 100+ views a day, and now have 620 followers.

But here are 2 issues..... a) for the last few days, even though i must have started following around 500 people over this period.... not a single one has followed me back. On average it'd be 30% who'd follow me back, so is this somehow tumblr getting back at me for taking the piss out of their system and not informing people that i've followed them????? Also, on google analytics, when using the imacro to follow 200/day, i'd get at least 150 pageviews a day as well, but now i'm back down to the usual 25-40 just based around my content

and b) I've seen other methods of money through tumblr on the forum, such as click through links for pictures, etc. Besides banners on the homepage, are these click-through's the only other option? also i don't quite understand how it works, when people refer to amazon are they talking about amazon.co.uk? and from that they then give you a sort of referral link that credits your account for each bit of traffic you bring their way??

You could test this by following another Tumblr you own, and see if you get 1) a notification email 2) a notification row in your Dashboard.

By default users get an email notification about new followers (but not about new Likes). They also get a message in their Dashboard.

Twitter does a thing where *rapid* new follows do not generate notification emails. (Ever get a bikinibot follower on twitter, but not an email about it? That's why. Twitter doesn't kill the account because it hasn't actually don't anything wrong. But it knows not to waste time with certain notifications.) I wonder if Tumblr has/ever would adopt similar.

aye, i did actually test it doing that just a few minutes ago, and it didnt show up as following, didn't get an email saying i was following them, nor did i show up on their follower list!

4 days ago, I did also write an imacro script that would auto-like posts, and in just running it briefly i ended up liking about 2,000 posts in the space of 5 minutes!! So i have a feeling this may have co-incided with the blank-following!!

Seems pretty obvious it is tumblr's way of preventing spammers perhaps, have sent an email to tumblr asking them about this.

Does anyone know whether tumblr enforce such limitations on accounts permanently, or whether they're lifted after a while?

Have spent days literally trying to build up this blog!!

Not the point of the thread, but I have to give you credit for this. That is so fast, I didn't even know Tumblr's buggy Dashboard could load 2000 posts in 5 minutes. :p

BTW, i don't want you to reveal your method or anything, but what is "Captain Jack's follow code?" Is that a WSO or something? I am very familiar with tumblr, but have not heard of this.

Captain Jack is just another user in this forum who posted the auto-follow code he'd written using Imacro (a plug in for browsers).

I've posted the imacro code i wrote for the likes in the SEO tools area i believe, feel free to try it.... but retrospectively i wouldn't advise it if you want to keep your tumblr off the radar!

Heh. I get it. Based on some experiences I've had, I'm writing a ubot bot that performs certain behaviors on Tumblr + Pinterest at slow pace. Ideally it will also be random (in between two values), but I'm not quite sure I have the chops for that yet (I am new to ubot and don't even know if it supports randomness).
