I am sure it has, but I haven't personally seen or heard of it. And yea, it is a bit beyond blackhat, but fuck it.
So there are hundreds, if not thousands, of POPULAR eBooks out there at any given time. Of course, they all come and go, and they are usually only hot for a month or two.
Anyways, that doesn't matter.
Why not copy the landing page/sales page for an ebook or info product, toss all the code into word and do a simple find-replace to replace links, product names, etc.
Throw the images in Photoshop, if they aren't too detailed, and make them match your site/url/product name.
Grab a copy of the product, for free of course, and tear into it. Remove all specific names, aff links, url's, etc, and replace them with your own. Rename it, re-lock it, and toss it up on your server.
Throw your modified page up as well...
For the "Buy It" button, use your PayPal button, and set up paypal to redirect the user to a URL after they have purchased. Send them to the file, of course.
If you lower the price 30-40%, re-brand everything, and use the exact same sales copy, you really aren't doing more than an hour or two worth of work.
Promoting this is another thing, so is ethics legal issues, and whether or not you may lose your paypal account.
But I bet if you were to to do this a few times a day, until you have a good 40-50 sites up... You could make some pretty decent cash from it.
Use .info domains from Godaddy to keep the costs down
I was just in the middle of writing an article for someone, and this popped in my head for some reason, so I figured I would share and see what everyone thought.
