Google disputes the notion that negative SEO is undermining its policing efforts.
?We frequently hear claims of ?negative SEO,? but when we?ve investigated we haven?t found evidence that it?s actually a significant problem,? company spokesman Jason Freidenfelds said in an email. ?In fact, our algorithms are designed to prevent this, and we use multiple signals to determine quality and relevance.?

:pound: That's Google's way of saying "Move along people. Nothing to see here."

Sure seems like it. I think they just inadvertently admitted they're floundering a bit.

Strange how some people cannot see Google Penalties and NEG SEO cannot exist without each other. If I can do a shit job so that my own site gets a penalty, I am pretty sure I can do the same shit job on someone else's site and they will get a penalty. The thing about NSEO is you have to make it look like shit natural SEO. I don't know where the dumb idea of sending porn anchors to a health blog was NSEO.

Because 99% of so called SEOs are retarded. I see that a lot too. Porn links to some roofing company site as if that's going to work. I actually believe that Google doesn't see much successful negative SEO because IMers and SEOs are retarded.

When terrible SEO 'professionals/experts/gurus/[insert other made up title]' figure out how to do SEO badly and what exactly 'badly' means, we're all in trouble. I hesitate to even write how easy negative SEO is to do here, for fear of giving some amoeba a light-bulb moment.

Well at the end of the day, google can't possibly know whether the founder/affiliate of the website is doing negative SEO or someone else. Therefor I'd say they have never been in control.

My thoughts on it exactly. Infact I have tested it and the neg SEO had no impact on my test site.

True in a theoretical sense. Yet conceivably implausible & highly unreliable in a practical sense.
    Let's apply this theory...

    1) Do your "natural shit SEO" on competitors site.
    2) Report site.

    NSEO now in Googles hands.

    3) Wait for G to take action.

    Leads to 2 possible outcomes.

    A) Google doesn't do shit.
    B) Google takes action.

4A) Keep doing your natural shit SEO and reporting the site.
5A) Time & opportunity costs inevitably surpass work required to rank your own site.
    6A) ?

4B) Competitor disavows and tells Google someones NSEO'n their site.
    5B) Google removes penalty.
    6B) ?

    ? = WTF now.

Do you continue NSEO? As you realize more and more your own site would be ranking by now? What position do you start NSEO? Which site? What type of profile? A clean, strong, authority domain? A site ranked by PBNs? Theres so many relative situations with relative sets of problems. Makes no sense to NSEO a site ranked with shit PBNs. Works already done for you. So... only targets that make sense are clean, strong, authority sites. Problem is, once that pattern of "natural shit links" emerges, disavowing, claims to Google about NSEO/sabotage, revoking of penalty = catch22.

Only time it makes sense to NSEO is when a site is too badass to outrank. But the more badass a site is, the bigger that WTF factor becomes.

This is why I'll always argue NSEO is a myth. It exists only in the sense of losing time & money. It has no benefits. Only idiots try to do it (I was one of those idiots trying for over a year). The phrase itself, "natural shit SEO" is an oxymoron. No such thing. Links are either natural or they're shit. If they're "natural shit"... then they're shit. If they're natural as in good enough.... they're too good. The logic doesn't make sense at any angle.

And this is going off the logic that everyone will use the disavow tool. Everyone knows about the disavow tool. Everyone knows about NSEO, and lastly everyone cares about their websites.
