So, "restaurants", a 13,600,000 monthly search phrase, is supposedly "Low Competition".

Errors like this are all over google keyword tool, but tools like Market Samurai and MNF seem to still be giving real info.

    Anyone else seeing this problem?

    lol Google Keyword Tool.

    More like Google "TheseAren'tTheRealStats" Tool

As mentioned above, theres many other ways to do the same thing and get the real information. I prefer Market Samurai, too.

Market Samurai gets its keyword data from Google, so I don't see why Google can't display it right. At least the Previous Interface works.

The new Google keyword tool gives completely different results from the old one in terms of search volume.

For example, the keyword from one of my sites gets 22,000 global monthly exact searches using the old keyword tool, but only 720 global monthly exact searches using the new tool !!

So obviously something is screwed up with one of the tools.

Reading around the subject most people reckon the new tool gives more accurate figures so it looks like a lot of us have been using keywords based on very optimistic search predictions !

It's all very well saying use MNF or MS, but these also use data provided by Google (hence the Capchas). The question is - what dataset are they using - new or old ?

Anyone any thoughts on the subject ? Or can anyone recommend a keyword tool (free or on BHW) that doesn't use Google data ?

How do you access the old Google keyword tool?

If you go to the new version, there is a link near the top right corner "Previous Interface". This takes you to the older version which still brings up the old data. Although quite disheartening for some of the keywords I had been targeting. My results via visitors and the # of impressions on google webmaster tools leads me to believe that the new numbers seem more on target.

I would go with the new numbers.

Personally for my #1 rankings I'm getting about 40-50% of the traffic according to the NEW numbers but like 10% of what the old numbers show in terms of visitors.

Many terms used to have like 5000 exact on the old tool but like 1000 on the new one so 400-500 visitors for a number one makes sense.

I believe the new numbers are more accurate.
