With all the cool new gTLDs around, it's tempting to start a new project on one. Has anyone had any lucky?

Outside of SEO, say you had "bhw.money"... you would have to put "www." in front of it every time so the person knows your are showing a URL, unlike "bhw.com"

Man, I've bought a couple. Speaking of the www part, either ff or chrome (can't remeber) wouldn't go to the site properly without typing the www first. After going to the site once, it would go to it without the www.

but yea I think they're cool, but also think they won't catch on.
i ranked one for a local keyword (restaurant) .kitchen domain
    no problems

Here is my view on those domains for right now and this could change...

Good for branding but not really user friendly. I have not played around with ranking those
or buying them for any new sites just yet. I understand that its tempting and for the brand
awareness I think it would be nice, but most people are going to have trouble thinking its a link.

You don't want to have to explain beforehand every time you send someone to it. :)

I have ranked a ".xyz" domain in local seo. I chose the xyz ending, cause

    - i could find fanatstic domain names there
    - they cost me 1$/year
    - i think it brings more attention to my website in the Serps as it looks special

As it is my first Moneysite i can not compare the ranking results and the CTR compared to traditional domain names...

It's really only fair if Google treats them the same since the good .coms are running out.

I wouldn't buy or build a site on any of those new TLDs. I prefer com, net, org, and info TLDs. However, I might change my mind if I ever find myself itching to get a domain name whose com, net, org and info variations have been taken.

These .bullshit tlds are a waste of time in my opinion. .COM is king, get a unique brandable one and you're good to go.

To many gtlds around, its early to bet on one of them to go with on long term. To answer your question, yes its possible to rank but I would advise against it, juse use .com

I've rank .xyz, .club, .loan my new projects are .pro, .global, .review, it takes the same effort of coms or any other. People that are afraid of the new gTLDs are missing out on some bad ass keyword domain names!
