I never went to college unless you count the credits I got from tech school in the military but always wanted a degree of some kind. Not that I want it to get a job but mainly because everyone in my family is highly educated and I want to be able to say I have a b.s. too.

There are a few colleges that have degress in internet marketing. I was curious if anyone here has considered that. here is the one i am looking at:

if you look down the page you will see the internet marketing part.

    http://www.getinfo.kaplan.edu/business.aspx

plus i figure it should be easy enough since I have already been thru the BHW school of im.

what do you guys think? does anyone want to do it too?

    I wouldn't do it,
Degrees are a scam. I went to school and got a 4 year degree in computer science, got out and knew absolutely nothing about what was going on in my field because the professors are so out of touch and the curriculum is so out of date. Whatever you might learn in that online university will be obsolete in a year or so anyway so why pay for that information when your getting it, and ever more up to date info, from BHW and working on your own? Save your money and time.

well, like i said. i think my true reasons are just because i want to be able to say that i have a degree of some kind. i don't feel i need college career-wise because i still make more money than everyone i know that went to college. plus they offer a 38% tuition discount for vets.

why do you want a degree from what you already knew? why do you want to pay for that, i guess it's not free? it's useless unless you want to work for somebody, a company which needs the paper, you don't need this paper to work in IM

i'm sure it's a total different school than what you can read here and i'll be surprised if they can say anything new to you (i mean what you can really adapt and didn't already know)

if i were you, i'd learn something new & useful in IM (programming, web design) and get a degree, if you feel better with it

Hi, I took admission in a university for same reason. 3 months ago. So I can also say I am BS. But Honestly when i take 1st month lectures and then see they are teaching which my 9 year old niece know 3 years ago..They are teaching as I m in stone age. So I took last year notes from some one and read them and then said one word "Bull Sh*t". I wasted my money and my 3 months in that..Honestly, not waste time.We are more then Phd.

    PhD in internet marketing :D

i wouldn't be surprised if the professors are consulting BHW to get their course material.

you'd just be spending a ton of time and money to get a piece of paper you don't even need.

In the word's of Bob Dylan, "You don't need a weather vane to know which way the wind blows."

In some businesses or trades, it is very necessary to have a degree, but I believe that Internet Marketing success comes more from hands-on experience, drive, work ethic, and the ability to improvise.

In all seriousness I really do feel this, people will rather accept that you have a degree in "clipping nails" and root you on, than to accept anyone who makes money online, even if they sell legit on ebay.

True, but why not go down the path and do both?

College is so fucking EASY. I'm getting mostly A's with the exception of a few classes. Right now I got like a 3.65. I'm an idiot and I'm getting a Bachelors in Business Administration and Management. (At a major, accredited uni).

This is coming from a person who graduated high school (with classes like gym, elementary math, etc) with like a 2.0 GPA.

It'll just feel nice to fall back on something, or use the skills learned to better manage my current business. Or both.

Also, with the exception of the needed math, english and history classes, I LOVE doing homework. Mostly analyzing management concepts, theories and picking apart these theories to fully understand the business process.

    ^yeah man.

But i think OP is pointing at the angle that there is always this pressure to get a piece of paper just to do what you love, not the angle that there is anything wrong with college.

It's like the beekeeper feeling he needs to go study to get a paper doing what he does, after beekeeping with his dad since he was 5.

It's better to be learned than schooled. Bhw is a place for hard knocks to learn the rudiments of making money online. The secret of success is right before your eyes.

    I disagree in multiple ways.

A degree shows that you have been able to stay focused on a topic.
You also learn a lot of fundamential stuff which is often extremely hard to learn by yourself, it start that you don't know what to learn.

It depends from subject to subject of course but the first point always stays valid.

    Regarding the main topic:
I didn't look at the plan but I am sure you learn a lot about business and accounting, courses in marketing etc. If you are already into IM (the BHW style of IM) and money flows you probably don't really need it anymore but for scaling up it can always be a help to know more about a topic.

I'm also an electronics engineer. I also recognized most of the hours in school as lost time (damn it was lost time)
But after all I have a degree and I know/learned (sure.. most at home) stuff I'd not know otherwise.
I'd not want to miss the knowledge.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Internet marketing degree really sounds like a college trying to capitalize on the latest trends more than anything useful.

I've got B.S. in Computer Science. In the past 15 years of programming I have been asked ONCE if I have a degree.

I left that building rather quick laughing at them even though I *did* have a degree at the time.

IMO if they're worried more about the piece ofpaper instead of your references and abilities they're not a good company to work for anyway.

    G-Man
