That Google search results are complete dog shit and only getting worse over time?

I mean seriously, its getting harder and harder to find things using Google these days.

Buying things online using Google as a starting point is almost impossible lately. Add "buy" or "buy online" to most things and the results are total bollocks. Your lucky to get more than 1 ecommerce site in your first 20 pages. The probability that that site will be amazon, ebay or alibaba is about 99.999999%

Anyone else noticed ridiculous search results?

Today I bought a Sistema Water filter from Tesco's in Thailand. Got it home and searched Google to find the optimum flow rate for best filtration.... Here I am on BHW ranting, so you can take an educated guess at how the above situation unfolded ;)

Yup, forgetting my marketing hat, when I just put on my "simple consumer" or "simple browser or shopper" hat, the results are total cr*p. I spend ages trying to find useful sites, whereas I used to find things within a few seconds.
God knows what's happened, but I doubt your genuine consumers are going to feel that this is a "good user experience". and I'm hoping they'll "talk" with their fingers! (not that most of them even know that there ARE other SEs, lol).

It's been like this for a while now... It's a piss take when you're trying to find some genuine information and you can't because most of the top results is bullshit created by the IM industry...

Another thing that fucks me off about google is the auto fill, my scenario:

Im looking to buy some PraziPro, which is a fish medication. After failing to find a local retailer, I went on ebay and found a seller. But I didnt want to register an ebay account just to buy from a seller, so I googled the sellers username to find their actual website and cut ebay out the equation. So in the same tab I input the sellers username in the firefox search bar and I get to the sellers website, after looking at their site, I see no options to buy direct, so I have to go back to ebay.

I'm a keyboard surfer (I try to use the mouse as little as possible when browsing.) So naturally I hit delete to go back a page. Now I know that I need to navigate back 2 pages in order to get back to ebay. So I hit delete twice and what happens? I get to google search, the cursor instantly goes to the pre filled search box and deletes the last letter of my search term.

This action then stops me from ever being able to navigate to ebay using the back button. Because instead of going 2 steps back, it went 1 step back and then created a whole new thread and removed the ability to go back to the start.

Fucking google trying TOO hard to be the best...

Yeah, I find the eBay results pretty useless, as I rarely buy anything over $5 on eBay. I mostly use it to buy phone cases or other junk from China. However for Amazon, they don't even ship to my address, so they're useless for me too. So I'd say about 50% of results are worth something.

I know what you mean. I searched for some manual or online info on my home appliance, and had very hard time to find anything helpful. I think Google guys are high when they have to change their search/rank algo!

Yeah exactly, it seems like whenever I want to buy something online I get a shitload of articles. This isn't useful to me when I buy things, and I'm not sure if it's just Google reinforcing the fact that they want high quality content or something. I mean, I guess Google decides to outrank an e-commerce product with a basic image and a 30 word description with a 500 word article on the matter. It's not right, but it's Google ;(

Is actually a decent search engine.

As far as Google, I agree with GST. If you want to find decent results in Google, you have to go deeper in the results. I find that page 2 and 3 have better results than page 1. Page 1 is nothing more than Google's Fortune 500 pals.

I use Bing or DuckDuckgo for personal results, unfortunately for marketing you still have to use them because people still say "Google it". The more the meme gets out that Google sucks if not only for their search but their user privacy, things should change but people get stuck in their habits.

Maybe that's the point. They can train the user to click on more ads this way and of course the people actually selling items will have to purchase ads in the first place to be seen. Google is training both sides at the same time this way.

    Yea I do agree.Its ridiculous
I mean seriously why the fk they are doing YT Video Listing for Buying stuffs
We need to buy stuffs first then prefer to watch a demo or something.
Similar things happened with me yesterday when I was searching for something about Wordpress
Plus I am even sick of this Multi-listing (Good for the companies/websites owners but at the same time total bs for the local public)
Looks like Mr Cutts is more busy earning with his payday loans sites etc rather then fixing these algo bugs

With all the other search engines showing major gains in traffic, I'd bet a lot of other people are getting the same shit results. Although the piles of shit that Google is serving to users may cause more clicks on ads, their sliding marketshare will piss off investors. If enough investors voice concerns about the traffic trends, they may tell Google executives to pull their heads out of their asses and serve some real results and not crap.
