I tried doing skincare on martha stewart's website and got absolutely nothing, spent maybe $100, which isn't much, but no one was even clicking the ad (I do understand ad copy too).

    Good luck!

    ok long story short

my actual spend was around $300 but I got $150 credited back becuase some ads ran outside the time I had them scheduled (did not want to run on the weekend).

I tried running on some 5 different websites including Martha's.

I think my CPM was somewhere between (this is maybe a year ago) $3 or $9, but I am not sure which. You can open a free account on sitescount.com, they have some ad space on Martha Stewart and Oprah also, and you can view the CPM. I closed my account over the "ads running outside the scheduled time" bit, although to their credit they did not charge me for the errant ads. Also beware, there are scammer sites on sitescout.com but they do try to keep them out.

In my opinion skin care is pretty saturated and takes a unique product to make money unless you are the original manufacturer.
