I have been monitoring a couple of my clients websites and rankings. I have seen a lot of my client's competitors that have exact match domains or exact match plus another word added. Move up all the the first place. I look up there keywords there ranking for.
I come to find out they don't have many links at all and there onsite optimization is horrible.

Anybody come to find this as well? If so do you have any idea if this will stick or if this will fade?

I've come to the same conclusion, seen my exact match domain properties going up.

I have a couple of EMDs going up but some went down, so I would say it's not a clear conclusion from my side.

This sort of nonsense always happens. Ignore stats for a short while. (*EMDs never really stopped ranking tbh)

In my opinion wether they are EMDs or not it became irrelevant. Sure it's still possible to rank it, but doesn't really gain a ranking advantage anymore

I haven't noticed it but I've got no doubt that it could be a developing trend; stranger things have happened.

The thing you have to remember though is that 6-12 months ago, the demise of EMD's caused webmasters globally to shout from the rooftops that 'SEO is Dead!' before jumping to their own demise when pondering the loss of their hard-earned affiliate commissions.

I suppose what I'm saying is that I don't think it'll stick; expect everything in IM to fade eventually. If you've got existing sites that have benefited from this upward EMD trend then congratulations and be sure to enjoy the ride. I wouldn't go building new EMD's off the back of this just yet though. :)

I didnt think it was going to last either, but they have changed since May its now about to be August. Im going to try and buy some exact match domains. A competitor of one of my clients domain is only 4 months old and is at the top. Also look up Sacramento SEO. This website has not very many backlinks and horrible website and yet is at the top cause of the exact match domain of sacramentoseosem.com.

Guess I will just wait and see what happens.

In my niche there always seems to be an EMD near the top (or top) for the relevant KW.

Most don't seem to have great DA, or PA (some exceptions).

quality vs. quantity. The links or EMD linking back to site, etc.. would be worthless since all the domains ranking is shiaaatt

I wouldn't say that at all. I've been ranking a number of EMD's without using the same anchor text in any backlinks, so it must be the EMD that's giving the boost.

Only change I noticed across my sites was that I had one EMD ranking for a number of other keywords as well as the exact match, it dropped a couple of pages on every keyword except the match - which it retained #1 spot for.
