Stupid airline should have paid them to do it, and then ran the video as a commercial. How viral is this video/how viral will it go, and how many people are going to see it and NOT see the name of the airline, and it's logo ? Complete waste of advertising opportunity.

I would fire the head of the marketing department immediately.

They could have had the company mascot (whatever it is, gecko, tiger, bear, etc...) do some kind of tag line at the end. "Fly xyz airlines: It's a party in the sky."

No one post the name of the airline in this thread. Instead, as an exersize, go research the video in order to find out it's name, in order to understand completely & first hand how much effort it requires interested viewers to connect that video to the name of the airline. Then multiply that number times every person that watches that video. The sum of that equation is the value of what some dumbass at xyz airlines sqandered.

If this was used as an airline advertisement it would probably cause controversial issues. No offense but IMO you've got a bit of a big mouth.

You're not from the US, are you? Let me explain how we roll here. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating. They are not happy and want to know at what point in the flight did the man dance. Then there are the people of Harlem who are offended by the Harlem Shake. They also say it's disrespectful to the original form of dancing that was born 30 years ago by a man from Harlem who loved to dance. One of the rules of marketing. Stay away from anything that some people might consider offensive.

Disagree. The only bad PR is no PR.

Negative PR is good for the company.

Mostly a true statement......not when it comes to safety on an airline....Im sure they will be working real hard to bury this one.

I'm pretty sure they did it while on the ground. How is that not safe?

Sheesh, these days walking outside of your house isn't "safe".

It's an airline company. Think about it for a moment. It's not GoDaddy, an Internet company, doing a superbowl advertisement like someone mentioned above.

"Controversy" in advertising is a GOOD THING. You don't know much about marketing at all, do you?

You mean like the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GEICO_Cavemen commercials? Where they have "metrosexual" cavemen? Where the whole joke is a thinly veiled attempt at racist humor? "So easy even a caveman can do it. Or a monkey. Or a ...." (How many people never thought of this interpretation, btw. There is a reason why these commercials have resonance. It's because they are FAMILIAR.)

Or how about the http://youtu.be/o-3j4-4N3Ng ?

How about the Calvin Klein http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroin_chic

I think you are exactly wrong. How it "rolls" here in the US is that smart companies with limited budgets can get dramatically more mileage out of their advertising budget by finding out exactly where the line between "controversial" and "offensive" is, and then hitting that line with great precision.

I think some of you here ought to be mortifiedly embarrassed for some of the stupid things that you are saying. This is a MARKETING forum. INTERNET MARKETING, in case someone cares to be precise. And, in advertising, one needs to have a better idea of what works and what doesn't, and have a greater command of the English language than most people, and then to use that language in order to achieve the desired effect, which for the most part is to gain attention.

For example, using the word "offensive" to mean "controversial" and then https://www.google.com/#hl=en&safe=off&q=conflate&tbs=dfn:1&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=o2gxUar2JeWU2QWokIDICg&sqi=2&ved=0CC8QkQ4&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&fp=c1794afd088c3d78&biw=1280&bih=853 those two words as if they mean the same thing, and as if there aren't clear and critical https://www.google.com/#hl=en&safe=off&q=connotation&tbs=dfn:1&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=QWExUdCGEurMyQHQiYHQAg&sqi=2&ved=0CC8QkQ4&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.43148975,d.b2I&fp=c1794afd088c3d78&biw=1280&bih=853 between those two words that make all the difference in the world.

ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD, "homie". Yo, d'ya feel me DAWG? (grabs crotch and spins two 360's on his head...)

It's the difference between being "controversial" and having people WANT to pay attention to your low-budget message, and being "offensive" and pissing people off, so that they want you and your message to go away.

Just like this post. It's controversial. The only people "offended" by it are the retards. It's supposed to make you think. If that really bothers someone, well there's the reason why.

could be good or bad that depends on what kind of product or company you're promoting, for me Controversy is only good on Entertainment kind of product or service etc.. like Celebrities and Music Artist and TMZ kinda thing, or for unknown products who want to grab attention but for well known company and earning steadily you wouldn't want any controversy at some point and just stay Professional.

    MY ENGLISH IS NOT GOOD..

for Airline Companies what is more important for them is SAFETY
and SAFETY is what they want to build to their customers

when I'm on a plane I usually just sleep and relax, If there's like people dancing in there and like plane starts playing some upbeat music (usually Airlines plays slow relaxing music)
I would be really PISSED OFF!!
