(Sorry if formatting on this post is messed up - I keep previewing it, when when I click post, it loses all formatting!) So I run a discount code site, within the furniture niche. As a way to add further content to my site, I do product reviews. My site is about 3 years old now, and has never been penalised or had a manual warning, but has lost traffic and rankings as Google has updated. I've recovered to a certain extent on some of my main terms, but pages which used to to bring me organic traffic, reviews, haven't seemed to recover, and quite often are sitting at page 2/3.At one point my site did have "thin content" with small articles featuring new offers and discounts. I stopped doing these about 2 years ago, and started publishing guides and product reviews and comparisons (the reviews have affiliate links)As a way to combat thin content I "noindexed" my category pages. I have categories such as;"Reviews" "Brand 1 Review" "Brand 2 Reviews" Brand 3 Reviews" Even when I publish a new review, for a low organic competitive term, small search term, newly released product, once indexed, it doesn't always pop up on page 1. Sometimes as far back as page 3 or 4.What should I be looking to do in order to help new (and existing) reviews i've published rank? For bigger product reviews, I do try and link to them throughout guest blogging. However I can't do this for every review I write.Should i remove the "noindex" tag from the category pages ? Should I look to build links to these category review pages? What else should I be looking to do?Thanks in advance everyone.

You are stuck in the SERPs not because of thin content but because of backlinks. How many discount sites have 1000+ word articles? The discount niche is heavily crowded and for all the good reasons too - it's immensely profitable as well. Your competitors aren't sitting around doing nothing - they are building links. That's why they are moving up and you're going down not to mention the coupon niche heavyweights. Solution - build powerful backlinks and niche down.

Keep the categories indexed imo for your niche.

Thanks for the advice. In regards to ranking my newer articles, what would the strategy be? Build powerful links to my homepage and category pages, so that the linkjuice flows to the review articles?
