Imagine a site that was ranking #1 for a couple of low volume keywords of about 5000 monthly searches in bulk with a potential income niche of $100 day or more, using hacked links from phpbb forums before penguin in October this year.

Well it is the site of one of my competitors:]

That site was ranking #1 before penguin for a huge amount of links from pages with pr5 and less and from phpbb forum posts, from a lot of languages and all ranges of IPs, also a huge amount of pr 2 to 4 pbn russian links and what not for a total of 7000+ links

After penguin the site was wiped from the first 1000 results on google for any possible keyword but then this month the site pops up again with a huge increase of those hacked links and almost 3000 more links from different sources.

I still have page one but this site hits like a truck and manage to stay on the #1 again for all the keywords using spam at its finest.

Not the best estimated income and a fairly small niche but the results of that strategy is outrageous, also the site has a emd and the anchor url used is the naked domain in most cases.

I don't know who provide those hacked links or where the owner of that page get its pbns but i really would like to know about it.

For google is not even close to be able to beat spam nor any kind of black hat techniques for ranking sites.

Even though it works fine (from what you said, I haven't checked myself), I wouldn't touch hacked links. It just seems too unethical for me and way too risky to feel comfortable.

Those are crappy links indeed, i can see them with firebug but the users and the forum admins probably dont have a clue there is a lot of spam bellow the blankets.

He's doing the regular churn and burn SEO common among blackhat SEOs. I also don't know how they get those hacked links and don't wanna know because I wouldn't buy hacked links for any reason. It takes Google several months to punish sites for spam so he's going to make some money before getting penalised (again).

Btw, is he using any redirects from his penalised domain or is he still using the same penalised domain?

    Home Page:
Check exploit-db or some other exploit site for the target infrastructure (wordpress / joomla / phpbb)
    Automate the exploit
Scan for vunerable servers running the software and the correct version
    Drop your link

    advanced
    Add a backdoor
Update the installation so no one else can exploit the site

Is not that i am really interested to get those links for my sites but didn't knew about such kind of links and is impressive how many pr 5 links a site can get and how rewarding can be to use shitty techniques like that.

Thanks for the info, i probably wont bother doing it since i am averse to that hacking stuff but is good to learn something new.
