    Hey guys, quick noobish question.

Let's say I have 5 long tail keywords for something like widgets

    "how to make blue widgets"
    "how blue widgets are created"
    "red widgets good"
    "ways to get green widgets"
    "yellow widgets good"

All low competition in order from most searched to least. In order to rank for them, do I have to put those exact phrases as my H1/H2 tags, as well as exact phrases in meta description, and have a keyword density of 1-1.5% for all?

I'm still missing some of the basics it seems, when I do something like this I end up only ranking for 1-2 of the keywords for some reason.

Keywords don't HAVE to be in the H1/H2 tags but you should put the most important keywords in the H tags if possible.

meta description does not affect SEO

Keyword density should be at least 1.5% and I like to keep the max at 3%

Put your most important search terms in your h1/h2's (possibly combine them, eg. "red and blue").
Regarding the keyword density, it's my belief that in the modern days of SEO, Google is smart enough to figure out what a page is about without the need of processing a keyword multiple times throughout the page. Therefore I'd advice you to insert it in the page naturally and disregard the density (just make sure to mention all your keywords at least once).

Albeit the meta description is irrelevant for SEO, it is vital for user-click-throughs from the search engines (seeing as it's the description they see about your site). Therefore make sure to make it at attractive as possible, regardless of your keywords.

If your keywords truly differ too much you might wanna dedicate individual pages for individual keywords, but seeing as in your case, the keywords are very similar I would stick to a single page.

It seems that most people in the industry disagrees with you. And while I generally don't keyword stuff, my personal experience is that it is irrelevant except for the user-click-through rate.

    1 Keyword per article
    Keyword in H1 Tag
    Keyword in meta description
Keyword at least in first and last paragraph

LSI's as many as you wish.
More prominent LSI's in H tags

Search for your main keywords. Open top 10 competitors. See if they use h1,h2, etc.

In several niches I track the header tags are gone....and sites still rank.
