    Hi :)

I'm Daniel and I would like to start contributing in this forum with my grain of salt. In this post I will describe you step by step how to make money online selling products with Shopify via Oberlo.

    The deal?

You don't need to keep a stock. This is a dropshipping based method. This is a quick infographic about how dropshipping works:

I have written a more thorough guide with further advices here in my blog: http://onlinedaniel.com/sell-products-without-inventory-online (it contains my Shopify affiliate link).

    Welcome to reality

First, I totally agree with this post: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/making-money-online-it-all-starts-with-you-not-methods-not-google-you.766510/.

I have been an avid reader of this forum during many months and I feel like many of the most popular methods here are promising high quantities of money in no time, with almost no effort and with no skills of any kind.

Well, this time I'm going to disappoint you.

Generally you can't expect to make any real profit by investing just 5 or 10 hours a week. That's it.

Sure there are success stories using this method, like this guy who is earning $3+ million dollars per year: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/43uo3x/i_made_over_3_million_year_in_sales_with_my/
Nevertheless, you will have to do a lot of research, be (or become) good at digital marketing, SEO and even with web design to efficiently improve the user experience.

Or you can hire someone to help you. In any case, you will either need time and/or money.

    The method

    1) Register to Shopify and pick a plan

Shopify is a self-hosted ecommerce platform and it lets you to create an online store in a minute.

You have a free trial of 14 days and during that time you can play with the themes, explore the features and getting familiarized with everything. Nevertheless, no one except of you, the admin, will be able to see your store.

This means that you will need to invest $29 dollars a month if you want to have a fully functioning shop, to be displayed publicly and, ultimately, getting sales.

    2) Install Oberlo

Oberlo is a free app integrated in Shopify. Once you start getting 500 orders/month, it will start charging you $29.90/month. But I believe that after your first 500 orders that won't be a big deal for you. ;)

    3) Add products into your store

    Hey, not that fast!

At this point it's time to do some boring work. We can call it the section 2.5).

You need to research in what niche you want to work. Are you into sports? Technology? Clothes? What are you interested in? Find a topic that you find appealing (and that it has demand, of course) and that you feel motivated about.

Please keep in mind that you will need to spend countless hours researching about it, writing about it, and even dreaming about it at nights. Don't pick a niche that it bores you just because you think that it makes money, otherwise you have good chances to fail.

In my blog (linked at the beginning of this post) I show you how to find a profitable niche and I give you some suggestions. Feel free to dig in, if you are interested for more information.

So, once you have decided the niche you want to work in, it's really time to add products in your store.

Open the Oberlo dashboard from the Shopify admin and start searching keywords that are into the industry. If you want to sell clocks, then type 'clocks'. As you see, you don't need a PhD.

    4) Start selling online

    Or almost.

You have an online store filled with products. You have your Shopify store linked to your Paypal (or whatever payment method you have chosen to get your money) and technically you are ready to sell.

    Time to start promoting?

Well, now it's when your patience (and your skills) come into the game. Don't be a lazy ass and take a time (or a web designer) to customize your site.

    Further steps

Make a beautiful design that makes people to feel that they are really in a site related to their niche.

Categorize your products, write custom appealing titles and descriptions for them. Write a nice About page.

Start a blog (yes, you can create a blog in Shopify). Learn about SEO. I suggest you to read the blog of Neil Patel (Google it).

Research, research, research. Earn money but, above all, enjoy your journey. :)

    Otherwise known as dropshipping indeed.

    Very basicly explained.

Oberlo is just a plugin to help you import items from aliexpress and help you fulfill orders but in the end it's you who handles the orders with the help of software, if you ever a boss you let VA's do your business.

If you want to read more about dropshipping I suggest to check this more detailed thread.

Looks like you got things down. Imagine getting this product selection to rank, then search traffic will fly up into your portfolio. Autoblogging is something i've drawn attraction towards for most of my time here. It still can produce as long as the content is of quality and sparks interest / is allowed by the search engines. (trust me some are.)

Creative styles of marketing like this can twist into new horizons, although would change how things are done over time.

For Shopify to be as popular as they are, nothing would kick you off more than finding ways to overcome bans or acquire permanent traffic sources.
