Thanks for clarification that makes sense why you waited. I would be kicking myself for years over missing out on the bigger sale. But either way that's a major score. Congrats

BASICALLy, scrapebox and ahrefs. It was all about being creative and how things work.

I never focused on that, the only thing that I cared was what the domain was about, what the old company used to do and what were the backlinks. I've never focused on "metrics" but rather, the overall history of the domain, what it was about and how I can refocus it for my business. This domain, specifically, I wasntinvolved in anything tech related but I knew it would be really valuable due to all the history and backlinks.

Imagine that it was the domain of some company like yahoo or bing. They were small,m but they were VERY relevant and outstanding in their fields. Sure, they werent the biggest, but people identify yahoo and bing, for example. THat's what I saw with this domain. That the old company was very recognized but was defunct and no longer in operation and at $65 starting auction and a final bid for $1,005 USD, this was really a bargain.

The part where you have to see what the whole domain's history is about. That's the real value of the domain. What the old owner(s) were all about, what they did, what their exposure was like. And in this case, the domain was a big company that was a monster in its industry but they went bankrupt and therefore the domain was expired. The domain itself has tons of awesome backlinks and was still getting traffic from them, eventhough I didn't re-establish the domain.

That's not a guide. Most of us know good domain have hidden value.

Unless you show us how to "SEE" whole domain history, we can call it 'story', not a 'guide'.

You were lucky - so this is not a replicable business model.

In essence, you had an offer 2 years ago for $10,000 to $15,000 but turned it down, then 2 years later when you remembered about your domain you were prepared to sell it for a lot less at $2K - if you could have found someone who would have wanted it.

So this wasn't a thought out strategy, it was pure luck that, despite a lot of poor decision making in between, paid off for you.

Whatever you do - do NOT go into investing in stocks and shares.
