tl;dr at the end for you lazy fckers! (yea you have to scroll for the tl;dr deal with it) Hey fellas, So I finally sold a domain for $10,000 when it costed me only $1,000 and here I will tell you how I did it. So, it was 2014 when I was bulk searching for great domains for my pbn and for money sites and I wanted to buy a super good domain for my money site and then go from there. I looked over hundreds of thousands of domains when I finally found this domain which auction started at around $60 and I thought it was a super bargain as I couldn't believe the domain metrics, backlinks and stuff like that. So I decided I would go with it. THe domain was live since 1994 or so and it was owned by a huge tech company that had lots of awesome links from huge editorial sites, wikipedia and more. And at an auction starting at $60, it was a dream come true. Now, when I looked at the domain, I was always thinking about the commercial value it could bring to the table, not only the backlinks, but how it could be later sold. I basically focused on it's potential and who could later be interested in buying the domain. Also, what I noticed is that the tech company had several variations of the same company name as domains, and thought it was interesting. So I decided to win the auction and literally buy it for $1,000 by 2014. Once I bought it, I did lots of pages to restore the site so it preserves the backlinks and everything else. I thought I would use the domain, but it was too great and just left it there without doing anything hehe. At one point, I was contemplating selling it here in bhw for $2k, but something told me to just to wait it out. So, by Sept 2017, I got an email from godaddy that someone wanted to buy the domain and told him I wanted $25k and then he offered me to buy it at a lower figure between 10k-15k but ignored him After all of that, I found myself in 2019 thinking about this domain, and searched for it in my email as I wanted to see if I had used it for other ventures, and so I found this email from the guy that in 2017 wanted to buy it. I thought, well, I can give it a shot, if the guy says no or no reply, I will sell it for $2k in bhw. Well, literally, I sent the email asking the guy if he was still interested in buying the domain and 5 minutes later he replied that he was still interested!!! Haha so then we exchanged details, got on a phone call, and then started the escrow.com transaction and everything else is history!! TL;DR 1. Buy a domain for $1k 2. Wait 3 years and ignore buyer 3. ??? 4. Contact buyer 2 years later and seal the deal!!! PS: The best part is that this guy had bought the other domains of this old company and already had the site in place, so this domain was truly needed for his collection of domains. Probably I could have asked for more, but I'm happy it's sold!!
