Is this considered overkill or just bad for seo as in attracting google's wrath?
Do you mean guest posts and backlinking from the same domain?
Different domain but same post/link
You mean you will use the same content with the links in different domains for guest posting.
Yes. Just to be clear here, guest posting and backlinking are different right?
are you talking about building links to the guest post?
No, building links to my own post. I have seen offers about guestposting and backlinking and would like to know if it's okay to use both of these services to empower one link without attracting google penalty.
The more you explain, the more confused I get here.
Guest post is nothing but getting back links from third party blog which is having decent number of metrics and visitors.
Guest post is one of type of back linking strategies.
To answer your main question
You can use guest post and other back linking like pbn to your same post of your site.
It should be look normal.you should get from niche relavent domains. Instead of getting all link at the same time you should drip Feed the links. Sometimes you ended up Spammy links if you are not aware of domain back link source.
If you have a link called A then yes you can get guest post (which is also called a backlinks only from B, C etc but make sure they’re niche relevant
Diversify your links don't use similar domains to a specific post it loses value over time so it's not a good strategy. Use niche links and don't build too fast. seo is now a long term business not for those who want fast money.
Backlinking from whatever direction (PBN links, guest post links, etc) is only 25% of what is needed to move the needle SEO wise these days. Good links are helpful because the authority and diversity of relevant domains linking to a site improves its overall rank. A strong number of referred domains is a big factor in cleanly establishing its authority, though it is just one main factor.
The four elements to keep in mind, and in balance for sustained SEO progress today is summarized by the 'ROCK' acronym (Referred domains, Optimized onpage SEO, Content optimization, and Keyword 'golden ratio,' or low competition long tails). People are often over-emphasizing building links or RD while using hi comp keywords they can't rank for, uncompelling content that will not keep visitors on the site, and not optimizing the onpage elements or user experience. Getting each basic element right is what it takes to rank.
