First off.

Can all BHW users reply with stories of how many times / how you were scammed by someone claiming to get you on a major website like CNN, Fobs, USMagazine, etc? It's been such a common sham in the last few years.

The format usually goes like this from Guest Post Scammers:

1) Scammer Can offers you that 'dream guest post' you want on *___major-site____* , but has short to no reputation (takes time to gain big connections)

2) Client , so excited for the opportunity, just jumps at it with no thought because this scammer is coming from a trusted source like BHW.... but don't check to see how long this person's been doing the service

3) Scammer then ask for payment up front for half of total cost ($500 or so typically) and says wait 2 weeks for a post.
- Coincidentally, 2 weeks is usually enough time to skate with money of people BUT............ Scammers usually then have another excuse after 2 weeks

4) Buyer realizes they are ripped off. Finds a way to communicate and check IP of seller. Turns out they are in some 3rd-world country or similar and lied about the location they were in, to make the sale.

Beware people.

Too many people are claiming they can sell posts on sites that are BIG NAMES but they do not tell the truth.

Do you all realize how big a company like CNN , Forbes, Rob Report, Business, TechCrunch, etc actually is? Their writers get paid competitive salaries and would not touch an article for a few bucks. And they have Fortune 500 companies willing to spend big money to own 'digital property' on their domain as a new traffic anchor for their own project. I've seen much smaller sites have writers who charge $400-$800 just to write an article. That is WITHOUT the actual cost of the guest post itself.

Sites like CNN, Forbes, USAToday, USMagazine, etc have way more traffic... so imagine how much more their costs should be

Some of the Guest Post Scammers, they may tell you "Major Website" name then sell you a guest post on the '.in" (india) version, which is nowhere near the magnitude of what you're looking for. So beware.

How to avoid these Guest Post Scams?

1) Review the profile of the seller. Do they have a lot of reviews? Do the reviews look legit and come from wholly reputable board members?

2) Ask questions: Ask for a link to their prior work or just clarity of the domain you will appear on. Also ask what section of the site you will be on and will it show front page or be indexed by Google?

3) Pay via a secure method if they can't be verified and do not mark it received until you have it. A site like Fiverr is good b/c you have a grace period you can give the seller, before having to pull your money. Not sure what other forms of escrow are available, but de be care.'

Hope this helps you guys.

Good Luck. Another jewel for those willing to read.

Have you fallen victim to this specific scam from sellers on this forum?

If so, why not mention their names and also open a shitlist thread.

They are EVERYWHERE.

They contact me out of the blue on skype and via email.

However, this is the system they use and i'm just trying to help people avoid it.

plenty of posts on BHW like this:
https://www.blackhatworld.com/searc...t&c[child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=31&o=relevance
That was a simple search to 'shit list' section

It is possible to publish articles on Forbes, USA Today, and other top publications; it may take time, but it is possible.

It definitely won't be cheap. For example, articles in Forbes are for thousands. Forbes USA, on the other hand, goes for over $5k.

I see buyers here ask for articles with them and expect the pricing to be around a few hundred dollars, which doesn't make any sense Lol.

Forbes USA, from what I've heard/seen ........... the writer alone can ask $2k but I never got a post there, so I cannot confirm.

I did get something with a smaller US metro publication and their writers were asking $800+ and their traffic was just like 1-2 million visitors a month. But they rank.

I understand your concern.

A lot of money does change hands for "premium" link services involving big online brands with juicy domain authority like CNN, Forbes, and others.

The good news is that this forum has a great reputation system.

You can best believe that if the person didn't deliver the link and kept your money, there will be a problem.

I think the issue here is not so much of whether people make such offers.

The question is how people should screen such offers.

And the key is only pay serious attention to offers made by Jr. VIP members who have a service thread here.

Because those two factors offer some level of security.

But if somebody with just a regular account makes an offer and you take the bait, the only skin in the game that they have is their account which sadly, people easily replace.

So the key here is not to be scared of the offer because there are legit providers of this type of offer, otherwise, they would all be on the shit list.

The key is to avoid people who are immune or avoid the range of disincentives that legit sellers are governed by.

100% agree.

You know how many people offered me "Forbes help" when I first joined this forum?

But yes, people should just do a simple google search on reputations. Helps a ton.

I also think they should search the 'shit list' for the website they are interested in to understand the true difficulty of finding a legit seller for that site

Thank you so much fo this thread!!!

Great to hear that. The Goal was to save a few people from problems.

Also see my AMA threads. Very useful.

If buyer have any kind of Issues they must go with Escrow.com or Fiver as you mentioned. This will keep the buyers safe.
