Let's take for example that my blog has a post about "New Jersey SEO".

I do some guest posts on authority sites with that keyword in title "New Jersey SEO". I give a link back from this site to mine.

Is it possible that the guest post will rank better than my blog?

Of course. As far as I know Google would favor your article only if your guest post is duplicated from your blog AND if the duplicated article links back to your ORIGINAL article. But if you use original content for both articles it could happend that the guest post ranks better.

It could happen, if your money site is new and the blog is established.

Which is good news! If the the guest post blog ranks high, it means the link is valuable. If that happens, give it time and that link will be a powerful link for your money site in the long run.
