I know many of you use Instagram for business etc but how does one grow their personal instagram account much like a "public figure". Im not someone who travels much so constantly finding to images to post is hard.

same principle, but you need to create your own content or find other sources that you can use.

Yeah that's the tough part, I don't just want to add random quotes and memes.

Keep posting content on a regular basis, make sure you use hashtags and engage with your new followers and other users.

Not sure about what to post? Have a look at what your competitors are doing and try to replicate or do better than them.

Im not really in any niche since it's a personal account but I do try to be funny and that seems to work for me. I do take out some original photos that I make funny or add funny captions but I'm running out of content, I'm guessing I might just have to use images from around the net? Like memes and quotes since I won't have much content left

Think of something you like a lot and post about it. Like if you like comics be a nerd and show off your new comics. Use related hashtags/like other people's photos. Just have to find your thing (I stopped caring to grow my Instagram but i had a old personal growing and was up to 5k until I got tired of people asking for shout outs, current one is close to 2k but I don't post)

Honestly, you're best bet is to pick an interest or hobbie you have and start pushing that. You have to think of what will interest people, and majority of the time, people don't want to see a normal account just like their friends accounts, which they follow as they have that personal investment and obligation as a friend. From my personal experience people seem to want to follow people they would like to aspire to, even if it's just someone having a cooler everyday life style than their own (or seem to on Instagram anyways)

I've manage to grow my personal account but I've had to turn myself into more of a personal brand. Yes mine is somewhat of a travel account, but I was travelling years before Instagram was even around, so it's more just showing my everyday life (which is now supported by brands and companies in my niche). It probably helps that I've also done photography and design, so I can edit all my content and get original content at a high quality level. But if you don't have that something that makes you more interesting than your average joe, then it's going to be really hard!

Doesnt mean you got to travel to make nice posts on Instagram. You could share some engaging posts that you could capture on your day to day life, else share some of your shots related to your interests like pets, cooking, sports, can be anything. There are lots of possibilities around you and you just got to recognise them is all.

Welcome to the neighborhood. Many here do grow their own personal accounts, or grow someone else's personal accounts. With that said, just do what you see others that you like on Instagram do.

Post HQ content. - Crappy photos are for the bedroom. You don't see big brands posting crappy photos, so why would you?

Post daily or at least 3 times per week. Don't overdue it and post stuff just because. You're not yet a celebrity with M+ followers, so posting 5 times or more a day is annoying; unless your a hot girl that loves showing off her new boob job or butt cheek rejuvenation. Otherwise, stay away from showing too much skin, no one will care.

Use hashtags that relate to what you do. #men or #women when posting a car or office photo will not do.

As you'll now notice, copying other's viral content and posting it on your own account is as easy as melting an ice cube on a hot summer's day.

What's special about you then? What's interesting that you can show to the world? You wouldn't want to follow some random person who adds no value to your life in any way.
