Finally greece has agreed to take the huge loan of 120 billion :eek: euros to save the country from bankruptcy.

    Code:

Frankly, I am really disappointed, because the greeks will not learn any lesson - there is a shit load of corruption in the government administration, 90% of people are evading taxes, they've done various frauds in order to get money from the european funds, they get bonuses for NOT coming late at work, etc.

Why exactly are you dissapointed? There have been corrupted governments in the last 20 years but why is that to blame 10 mil. people who are among the less paid workers in the EU that live in a country with a very high cost of life country? Would you be happy if the country went into bankruptsy and the minimum wage went from 600 euros to 400 and pentioners were forced to live with even less?

This is another loan that will be paid back and not a gift. Noone is giving away money for free, noone.

Where exactly did you read these statistics about 90% of people not paying taxes? And there's not such thing as a nt coming to work bonus.

If I were you I would be more concerned if my country was next in the list and not dissapointed because Greece gets another loan that will have a disasterous impact to the people of the country. And more countries are going to follow, be certain about it, because Greece is not an exception in the EU or the world of bad people who don't learn any lessons.

You probably have never been in greece, and you are not aware of people's mentality (applies to whole balkans actually).

Oh really less paid, please look at the graph and think again if they are that much less paid. By the way romania has twice the greece population and they are paid 4 times less, but they living standard is not 4 times cheaper, so spare me the sympathy.

Read about coming to work bonus here:

When you are doing statistic fraud about your deficit, you will have to buckle up when exposed

This is personal observation, try to ask for a receipt from a taxi driver or hotel and see what happens.

Some info is mentioned here as well, no numbers but you will get the picture

I'm from Greek origin and I completely agree with xhpdx's. I have family their and corruption is there from to to bottom. Salaries are low and everyone there live beyond their means. This has created a culture of scamming. My father has had family rip him off. Talking about people like his sister. I've talked to some other family and the have been scammed by brothers, parents, uncles aunts, cousin etc.. This is obviously a generalization because there are good people there. Then we get to the Greek government who scam above & beyond what I've seen in North America and citizens who scam all sorts when it comes to income tax.

I don't want to make it sound to general but the problems in Greece are there because of a scummy population and beyond scummy government

Yes, blame the people. It's their government, they elected it, they didn't do anything about the problem, they aren't doing anything about it. Now they should deal with it. Giving their corrupt pseudo-communist government a loan will only make the problem worse.

Unlikely. They already have a public debt of 114% of GDP, a budget deficit of around $40 billion, the economy is going downhill, tax revenue is on decline and now they want a $120 billion loan (35-40% of GDP). When in a hole, dig deeper. On the other hand, if Greece defaults, the euro is going to take a big hit. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Giving the loan will however only postpone the inevitable, Greece defaulting.

    Probably.

I love that the UK is part of Europe, because now we get to fund other country's bad governments... wooppee. However, that figure does kinda pale in comparison to the amount we handed out to banks a year or two back.

This is a really tough one as it is a hard thing to hand money over to a losing prospect but its even harder to think that some innocents could suffer as a result of their governments failures.
