Hey guys. I'm going to keep this pretty short and simple. I need to raise 1000+ dollars for a fundraiser for my club by mid December, and I was wondering if you guys have any good ideas. I feel like I have so much potential for a huge fundraising event to raise a ton of money, so I'm thinking hard to go away from traditional car wash and bake sale and go more towards being able to use social media marketing for huge ROI.

Have : Campus has over 20,000 college students, manpower of 15+ people. FACEBOOK for marketing.
Experience in marketing/creating websites/etc been doing internet marketing for 3-4 years now.

Want : high ROI, minimal investment or initial cost (because we don't really have starting funds)

Current ideas : The basic ones such as car wash and bake sales. Working concession stands, contacting local restaurants for % profit on certain dates for people with our coupons, finding a company (e.g. clothing) and being affiliates to get % sale in addition to a discount that makes it look attractive, maybe even getting a band to play at a venue since I know some buddies who are DJs or are in a band.

Any ideas, suggestions on companies to contact, tips, advice, or funny comments are all welcome.

I saw this one type of site where you can sign up and they give you a special number that people can send a message to. I forgot what the website was called. (HERE IS AN EXAMPLE BUT NOT THE ONE I AM TALKING ABOUT. You take the number they give you and you put it on your site. So what happens is when people want to send you money or help you out they just send a text from their cell to the number given to you and you get the money instantly. The site profits from taking 2-5% of the money you receive.

    How it works. (examples)
You put the following on your site.
To donate 50 cents send GHY to 456777
To donate $5 send RFT to 456777
To donate $10 send ERF to 456777
    and so on.
What happens is that the amount they send you is added to their bill at the end of the month.
The money gets to your account instantly. Not all of the sites allow you to use for personal use. Some only allow church and fundraising for serious stuff. If you do it for something worthwhile and useful then you can really raise a lot of money because for people to help you out all they have to do is send a text message.

(20,000 college students would be an awesome source)
See what happens and just do it.. Hope it helps man.

Create a "hyped" product (t-shirts, wristbands, etc) that supports the cause. If you make something that looks cool AND supports a cause, people will love it. It has the potential to go "viral" within your school.

The restaurant idea works very well too. I know some people who have used it. Just make a deal with some popular place, and then create flyers to promote it.

The key idea for both of these is to get something to become trendy/what everyone is doing. It sounds cheesy, but it works. People aren't always 100% down to support a cause, but they certainly enjoy doing what everyone else is doing. After all, you've gotta be cool....
