Live in NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington (this would work well I think), Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles? Here's what you should do:
1) Go to HostGator and sign up for an affiliate account.
2) Click Manage Coupons and create a coupon, specifically one that is somewhat easy to remember. I would geotarget it (eg: NYCHOSTING).
3) Create a simple flier giving away $0.01 hosting with the HostGator logo, URL, and the coupon code.
4) Print off a ton of these fliers.
5) Stand on a busy street corner when work is getting out (or in the morning when people are on their way to work) handing out the fliers for the $0.01 first month hosting.
I would like to think at least 2 people thinking of starting a blog or a business would sign up which would give you $100 (and then after 21 referrals, you get $125 / signup for the month).
This idea is very simple and may have already been posted but I just thought of it. I live in a small, suburban town though and a trip to the closest city is 2 hours away.
