Had $100 in my account, wake up this morning and I am -$266.82... Looks like someone I did work for had a fraudulent account and I end up losing $350. When I spoke with the guy, (AIM - OneShotEddy), he tells me gaypal put a freeze on his account.

The bad thing is, all I use is gaypal, for the past 6 yrs I never had an issue with them. I just moved so I dont have a bank account set up so everything I had was in there. So now not only is my family without any money I owe them $266 until I see a positive balance. I tried calling them on it and they just tell me, there is nothing I can do because web design isnt covered under seller protection.

Thanks Gaypal for taking food from my family. I really appreciate it.

But if anyone needs anything done so I can get back in the green, hit my BST thread in my sig.

Sorry man to hear that, you offer web design just get a merchant account. Time after Time i hear these paypal stories and it just bothers me, because people wok hard for there money and to have someone freeze your account it's enough for me to go crazy. Anyway hope you get things worked out.

What my plans were, is to do another address just for my design and then when someone paid, I would just transfer them funds into my main account, the one I have debit cards with. I also thought about going with @uthorize(.) net but wanted to wait till I got settled and get a bank account opened.

Just a hard lesson learned. The buyer told me he would get everything straightened out but thats gonna take some time and until he does, I am pretty much fuckered and working free until I pay them off.

    We will see.

You should have several paypal accounts... Use some accounts to sell stuff and send money etc. And use 1 where you just cash out the money.
That is you send money from your other accounts to your safe account with which you don't sell or buy anything.

Don't over do it no more than 5 accounts.
    But I suggest 2-3

it won't work, if you transfer funds regularly from one account to another even if they're verified and are in good standing, paypal will link those accounts together and they will ask for every kind of proofs

so if shit happens with account 1, then shit will happen with account 2 as well unfortunately

that all makes sense on paper however its paypal we are dealing with, they would pretty quickly see the funds going from the other accounts to the main one and just go after them all--- they are ruthless b@stards

I am doing that and a friend of mine has been doing it for years so no problem at all...

I don't transfer funds to my main account that often maybe once every few months so it looks natural.

Yea, thats what I was thinking. If I get money into account 1 and send it to account 2.. if funds get pulled from account 1, wouldnt they also get pulled from account 2?

I think I am just going to go with authorize.net but I assume the same thing will happen. They buyer himself said that gaypal put a freeze on his account, and even went in and authorized the transaction but still they wont do anything.

    Go Figure.

Whats the lesson learned here besides the obvious...

    Get a Bank Acct..

Why would you not have a Bank Acct. in the FIRST place ESP. if you have a Family? At least it is protected by laws etc...

Sorry i just woulnt gamble MY MONEY in a 3rd party like that. ESP. after all the horror stories that i read, just here, on a consistent basis..

Go get a Bank Acct. with Wells Fargo and sign up with Authorize.net thru them. When you run a transaction the funds are available the next day...Which VERY FEW places do..

The "safe" accounts you set up are the ones that should precisely have everything on them in terms of proof (utility bills, bank statements, id, even SSN submitted or confirmed), that's why they are dubbed "safe." They should each be on a dedicated unique IP and PC, to prevent triggering a new restriction on the account. Maybe use paid VPNs, or literally different locations (one IP at home, another IP at work, the local library, an internet cafe PC, etc.). Long term, we all have to evolve to a different main processor than PP. As seen in the OP, long term use without problems does not protect you from a sudden limiting of your account. PP frequently gives people a false sense of security.

Because I just moved to another state a few weeks ago and just getting settled (getting kids in school, insurance, ect..), then I was going to go get the bank account with a business account. WHICH I said in my initial post.

Just a hard lesson learned. Wont make this mistake again.

Umm u dont have to have a bank in the exact state you live in.

This is why they make ATM cards and Have National Banks so people wouldnt have to do exactly what you are describing every time they move WHICH i clearly saw in your first post anyway...

This isnt 1919...go get a national Bank and u wont have to worry about it again when you move...

Also check out Wells Fargo and Authorize.net...Get away from the paypal dependence..we have all been slaves to them at one point lol

yes, that's the way it goes :/

i guess xplicit has already transferred those funds which came from the fraudulent client and paypal wants those funds back now (it wouldn't be negative balance, if xplicit would have left those funds on his paypal balance or if he has any other funds which covers the ~$350, but he couldn't see that this will happen)

Yes, because they always tell me after 24hrs you are good if theres no problem, I didnt think after a week they would do this, so I pulled the funds out.

I mean hell, what other proof do they need. I sent all copies of the conversation, the buyer even logged in and said it was authorized. I dont know what else needs to be done.

Its kind of funny, I talked to 3 different people who tell me that it looks like the transaction was made with a stolen credit card, Yet I have done work for this client before without problems, So when the 4th person gets on the phone they tell me they cant disclose the information.. Well the last 3 people did, why cant you.. They work they way they want to and theres nothing we can do.

    Hey BHW,

This is OneShotEddy--xplicit and I are in the process of working this out.

Huge problems made by gaypal for all parties involved. Mind you, my account was NOT fraudulent. LIES that paypal says to customers so that they won't have to deal with anything, or make any efforts to truly resolve.

In the end, my funds are frozen, my account is shut down, and they're holding everything I had in there (a lot) for 180 days.

And they reversed over 300 legitimate transactions, many of which were sales of e-books...
