So I paid for someone to complete a service for me. Let's say it was to put my affiliate link on their site. But I sent the money as a purchase of "Goods" not "Services". Yet they blocked me and never completed it even though I can see they are still active several times a day online. Can I file a dispute through Paypal and get my money back or am I screwed since I selected the wrong category of payment?

Go ahead and File Dispute. Better option to get refund quicker is to call them right away and explain this.

Goods = they must provide proof of shipping. If they sent nothing, paypal will reverse the transaction. This is my experience.

Start a dispute. Paypal favors buyers over sellers (from my experience); there's a good chance you'll get your money back. If the service providers cannot provide good evidence (and that's about impossible for services and digital products), the money's yours.

    1. chargeback ccard

or, if you paid by bank transfer

    2. cancel direct debit within 5 days of transaction, it will be reversed if it was an instant bank transfer, since these aren't really instant, paypal simply funds the transaction while the bank transfer is in place

I would file a dispute with paypal or if you paid via credit card through paypal do a reversal. Either way I do believe the Seller will have to PROVE SERVICES OR GOODS RENDERED.

You'll get your money back even if you werent scammed. Thats bout the only good thing about pp. For the buyer anyways.......... They seem to screw sellers left and right.

I have to agree with 2011nfl they seem to give you your money back for whatever reason you choose! there really isn't much seller protection with pp at all =( all the buyer has to say is that they didn't authorize the transaction and they get their money back!
