You can easily do this with email - most phone companies have A^n email to SMS email address for their subscibers. I know Atts is like 123456789@txt.Att.com. Google around

So can you enlighten us then on how to do this? How to send SMS in bulk?

There are sites out there you can use, but they seem quite expensive, and there's no way of guaranteeing the mobile numbers you use are genuine?

If you have a load of numbers and just happen to know each service provider, you can do it very easily/cheaply, but not efficiently, using the above method (Internet gateways) by rnc505. Though it's actually #@txt.att.net. I have a whole database of these gateways if you need them.

Otherwise, you could get a GSM modem to send out mass texts. It's sort of like a phone whose main job is to stay hooked up to your computer and send SMS. These are hard to configure specifically for your job, but once you got it set up, you're all good from there on out. All you need for these is the phone number, no service provider information.

If you don't want to do it yourself and purchase a bulk SMS service instead, be sure to ask beforehand what method they use for delivery. SMTP (Internet gateway) and GSM are the main methods. GSM is much more efficient and has a higher success rate, so it's worth the extra fee charged by bulk SMS providers.

I get them too. I think they send them bulk based on area code because the ones I was getting was for a local club and I don't give out my number to anyone I don't know!
