Is specifications like this good enough?

    1GB RAM
    Unmetered Bandwidth
Hard disk is not an issue I guess.

Which location is good? USA or NL?

And what OS is the best for running Scrapebox on such a VPS? WIndows XP or Windows Server 2003?

Please help me. Its really urgent.

    Regards!

That looks fine. Windows Server 2003 is more lightweight, but I'd still probably recommend 2008 R2.

Location depends on what you are targetting.

Yes 2003 is lightweight. But will 2008 R2 run well in this config?
    Why do you recommend it?

What am I targeting means? Sorry I'm still a newbie with SB.

Thanks for the quick response :)

Targeting, as in whether you're planning to comment on US pages specifically or not. The location doesn't really matter that much. Unless, of course, you care about a 50-100 ms delay when commenting, or something.

I'm unsure about whether 2008 will run as good as/differently than 2003 on that, but it [2008] works like a charm on my server.

No I have no such specific targets as of yet.

Little off topic, do you know whether its possible to use a windows server 2003 loaded VPS for using torrents? I want to use my VPS for that purpose too sometimes(not while using scrapebox though).

And its known that scrapebox runs well on 2003 right? I think I read it somewhere.

Well if you don't mind, may I know your server config? Just to get an idea.

    Thanks

Your setup seems pretty good but, just so you know there are providers that have everything setup for you on bhw, checkout some of the services for sales threads.

Why would you want to torrent on your VPS? You'd still have to download it to your home computer and be capped by said download.

Scrapebox does run on 2003 indeed.

My server is: 8Gb Ram, Athlon II X4 2.3Ghz, 2TB HDD and dedicated internet 100 down 60 up real speedtest.net resulsts. Can run 30 scrapeboxes on it, but I usually keep it down to 26-27

Location not matters. The performance of server matter..Well, take a 7 day or 30 day test..Pay for 1 month and test it yourself. Because Sometimes servers can't handle blast loads..So first make sure your Host provider have Good Market value and they understand clearly you will run massive blast bot like sb xrumer etc..xsserver can handle others not sure..

@the_demon: I would have loved to try them, but to be honest I can't afford much right now :(

    @
Strondahl: Oh you got a dedi I guess. Can't compare it to my VPS lol.

About the torrent thing, its just to maintain my ratio in private trackers lol. I use my PC only for downloading.

@safex: Yes I understand that, I hope mine works fine for me. I have already talked to the provider and they say it won't be a problem.

Oh another question, how many instances of Scrapebox can be run on my VPS simultaneously? Just an idea, of course its hard to say unless you try it yourself.

I'd recommend NL, they have great internet over there IMO.

Also recommend peer block for downloading torrents, its free and works great.

    Yeah it's fine, I'm running on a 256 mb because I don't want to use 35 bucks a month for VPS :p

Cool man. Though no idea what peer block is. Need to do some research I guess :p

And what about number of instances? How many will be good for my specs?

I just recently switched to fiber in my home + a 6 core T1100 x 8gb of RAM comp at my actual house...
Couldn't be happier about the switch (I'm keeping a super high speed proxy on all outbound traffic)

The only downside is the 100mbps line (some VPSs have 1gbps in Europe), but honestly I've noticed no difference at all... and I'm able to run 10 scrapebox instances at a time (vs the 5 I could do on the dedicated server)

Upload/dl speed tests on my home line are actually quite close to the speeds I received on the dedicated server (which was $60/mth)
but the added CPU speed and RAM is more than worth it.

Is gaming ram and a gaming cpu ok enough to run scrapebox all the time.

Gaming doesn't really say anything. I run 12Gb@2Ghz Ram slightly overclocked/tweaked timings at home and I haven't had any problems, if it is clock speed that worries you.

I was just curious, since the computer I'm using for scrape box now,I originally built for gaming. And i've only ran scrapebox for 100 minutes at the most, not all day yet.
