    Needed money, so i thought i'd go out there, collect 1000's of wordpress blogs and spam the shit out of them. I scraped 3500 blogs, 540 comments posted, and none of them are posted. I used the SB link checker software, and i don't see even 1 backlink. So i though i'd confirm it by posting comments manually, and just as i thought, wordpress now shows me a blank page after posting comments.

    Is there a way to build backlinks, to my blog, without getting caught by akismet ?

    While this is on topic, does anyone know the answer to this question...

    If anyone gets banned by Akismet due to their comment(s) being filtered as "SPAM" by blog administrators (I assume it would take a few blog owners to mark it as "SPAM" before you get a temporary or permanent ban), is it true that the ban is removed after your comment gets approved on other blogs a bunch of times?

    To simplify, say I post my URL only multiple times and all the blog owners filter it as spam. Later on, on 25 other blogs, i post comments that are relevant to the subject to engage in a conversation. Won't Akismet recogonize them as legit comments and remove the ban?

    Unless I am wrong, can someone explain the process of how Akismet works then or even their formula?

    Jason: I just read that it does not. How odd. Wonder how it works then.

    This code is from the default akismet plugin you get with every wordpress install
    Code:
    function akismet_auto_check_comment( $comment ) {
    	global $akismet_api_host, $akismet_api_port;

    	$comment['user_ip']    = preg_replace( '/[^0-9., ]/', '', $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] );
    	$comment['user_agent'] = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'];
    	$comment['referrer']   = $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'];
    	$comment['blog']       = get_option('home');
    	$comment['blog_lang']  = get_locale();
    	$comment['blog_charset'] = get_option('blog_charset');
    	$comment['permalink']  = get_permalink($comment['comment_post_ID']);
    Which leads me to belive that they are using some ip tracking. How it works I am not sure, but surely if akismet server gets lets say 100 queries about comments from the same ip it will be very suspicious. I doubt there is a permanent ban for the ip, maybe some expiration is set
