I need the advise of more experienced bloggers as to what exactly I'm doing wrong. I created a blog nearly a year ago , included google adsense, got the stat counter thing applied, a few affiliate links and I've literally made NOTHING from it. (Ok maybe a $4 from adsense after a month or longer, but nothing to be proud about) I kept posting daily as I thought personally it would be of interest to a certain niche. I admit I don't know what it means to backlink despite reading and trying to grasp the concept. I've come to understand that doing this creates traffic ato one's website and what not.

I was even told that I didn't even need to do posts daily that I could make money pretty much on autopilot with one blog and that could be even more if I had 30 blogs managing simultaneously. How do I go about doing this ? I really would like to work from home but the earnings are awful. I am starting up a gig with AC but then that's a whole different thread.

Anyway, any advice would be grately appreciated. Again just tell me, what am I not doing. Another thing I have submitted the same blog posts to ezine, bukisa and a number of other article submitting sites in the hope of directing the traffic to my blog but nada, zilch , absolutely nothing.

Where am I going wrong ? Thanks for reading.

Backlinks is what matters now in Online business. The more backlinks you will get to your blog the higher it will be showing in Google results. Higher in Google = More Visitors = More money.

I'm not just after traffic although I understand it converts to money, I want to monetise the site without sweating it much as I'm working on other ventures. How do you backlink ? What's the process ?

I would recommend you create a few "best of the best" blog posts for you niche. In other words, a resource that will be linked to organically by others, and updated as it grows.

    Example:
Post title: "Top 50 Wordpress Themes Better Than Yours".
Post Body: Nice screenshots, direct links, paragraph or two about each one.

Visitors will leave comments telling you "what about this one you missed", blah, blah.. Thank them for "helping out" and add it to the post.

    This accomplishes two things:

    1. It gives you something WORTH linking too by other people. Most blogs contain self-centered, worthless or low value info. Praise other peoples work, and they will reward you for it.

    2. It encourages comments and gives you fresh content. People love to point out stuff others missed. Ending a post in this example with something like "I'm sure I missed some great themes, so please comment and let me know if you have any others to share". Believe me, Johnny "hey check me out!" Internets WILL be adding fresh comments for you.

I agree with webguy, If you don't know much about SEO, try to make your blog be as good as you can. Traffic will flow...

You can gain many backlinks by posting articles on different article directories but those articles have to be unique , not the same ones from your blog. Search engines will penalize you if you post the same article in diferent places. In the end of each artickle in outhor area include a couple of anchor texts that would point to your blog. Is not necessary to update you blog every day. Once a week will do fine. There many other options for you to gain more backlinks. You can search around in this forum which is one of the greatest webmasters forum in my opinion. Good luck.

first how many visitors do u get daily ? Just keep posting (daily) and make sure u dont go off topic so much . Become an affilate to products closely related to your blog . Strive to make your visitors loyal . Make twitter , facebook accounts for your blog only . share on social networks.

the only thing a backlink is, is a link to your site using your url "WWW{dot}YOURSITENAME{dot}COM
if you post these on to other peoples blogs using quality answer to peoples questions you will see the traffic following in eventually.
if i was you i would look into linkwheels there is a great pdf on this forum somewhere all about it.

To be honest, even I find this strange. From personal experience backlinks are not as essential as some people make it out to be. My first ever blog, didn't make anything for about three months. After this all I did is place a few signature links on my forum accounts and just kept up writing relatively high quality content, ended up making about $3 per day. Not much but you know.

Get a sitemap, open up a webmasters account in Google if you haven't already.
    Socially bookmark your blog.
