    What's going on??

Last night I was checking my website visitor stats and I noticed a little spike in the traffic: 400 visitors instead of the usual 100-120 which is what I usually get per day. I saw most of the visitors were coming from Stumbleupon and landing to the article page in my website which I bookmarked in Stumbleupon few weeks ago.

Then it all went really wild: I started getting approx 10-15 visits per minute all from Stumbleupon and now I have received 7,664 visits in total for my article. I'm still getting traffic from SU, but not as much though. It's settled around 50-60 visitors per hour.

Now does anyone have a clue WHAT just happened?? :)

I havent done anything but bookmarked it once via my SU account.

Your link went viral huh? That's great pdoods...congratulations. Find a way to monetize the traffic. Adsense, CPA, ClickBank - anything and everything depending on your niche/keyword.

I have used many accounts of StumbleUpon in Bookmarking demon, got like 2K visitors, but they just stumble again and won´t clic or read your products, is good to increase traffic but not for money.

In my experience stumble upon traffic does not click any ads, they just read and share.

Same here..They are notorious for not clicking ads. I had an article go viral once to the tune of over 40,000 visitors in a couple of days, placed adsense all over it and they rarely clicked the ads.

I have also got some good traffic boosts from StumbleUpon and Digg but those people are too intellectual to even look at advertisements. :D I think that there should be techniques made especially for converting those who only want to read and share..

The point that you all appear to be missing is that you need to have good quality content on your site, then people will stumble it and share it, that way you're driving more visitors to your website and if you do have good content people will often buy products through you as they consider you a trustworthy source of great information.

    UPDATE:

I have now received 30K visits through Stumbleupon and I keep getting the traffic, around 2K-3K visits per day.

I checked the stats and average time they spend on that page they're landing is 2.00 - 2.30 minutes, so it seems it's not completely hit-and-run traffic. They actually read the article I wrote.
