A few days ago I put into action an rss / pipes / social system that I've been developing and the results have been somewhat astonishing. As far as I know this is all Whitehat, just the result of a lot of hard work and hard thinking. But the issue is that I'm getting the clicks but not the sales. Lookie:

This jump in activity was so huge one of my advertisers got in touch with me and asked if they can do anything to help, but also asked why my conversion rate was so poor.

I'm tweeting deals from UK retailers, medium to high value stuff. At a guess the average product price is about £75 but goes up to about £8k. Could it just be that when people spend more money they take longer to make a decision, so those clicks might come good? It would be nice if they did!

    Help!

if you would explain how exactly you are getting the traffic then we would know better to answer your questions.
but yeah, basically, 40k clicks and no sales means the traffic sucks.

Is your traffic interested in the products on your niche ? how exactly are they coming to your site? do they stay ? what is your bounce rate? These are just some questions of the top of my head, that may help you understand why you are not selling. Maybe £75 is too much for them (?)

Can suggest by checking the Bounce rate. Mostly the bounce rate will give the solution i think. But hope £75 wont be a problem for buyers that too for 40,000!!

The system is this - I've created RSS feeds from online retailers clearance pages, I then combine the URLs to the deals with my affiliate code and roll the whole thing into a single RSS feed. That RSS feed is then used to feed a couple of Wordpress syndication sites (com and org), a tumblr site and a bunch of Twitter accounts. The Twitter accounts are developing followers very gently and slowly by following the followers of big names in the niche.

So apart from the Wordpress sites the traffic isn't passing through a site I can check metrics on at all.

I'll be completely honest, I have no real idea why the traffic is so stupidly high. I could understand maybe 4,000 clicks, but not 40,000! I've not done that much work!

This is a niche with an obsessive following where people very publicly flaunt how much they spend. There are low value items available as well.

Is the products are based on your niche?
If it is not related then there is no use as people will just click and move to the next related site. Or else the prices for the product may dump the quality of it in outlook. Just do promote it well attractively. this might help I think so.

Thank you. It is exceptionally laser-targetted, in some cases I'm growing Twitter accounts by following the followers of the advertiser I'm promoting. The logic behind this is that the users have shown they're interested because they're following the advertisers I'm putting out the special offers for.

I'm going through the stats looking for an error somewhere, but I just can't see it!
