There is nothing more annoying than things opening and closing when you dont intend it to happen.

It seems Google is messing with the search result display daily. This annoying image display that opens when i run my cursor over the displayed results page is anything but user friendly. Its so damn annoying.

Can they give us the option of choosing if we want to view a thumbnail image of a website? It seems they forcing us to see it. Why? Does Google honestly think that this is user friendly?

It was bad enough when vbullentin employed this feature. Text messages opening when you dont really want to view whats written. At least with Vbulletin the webmaster can turn this annoying feature ON/OFF. Now Google has taken it upon themselves to force a thumbnail view of the website, whether you want it or not. I dont know about the rest of you and what you think but i find this cheesy and annoying as hell. Is there an option to TURN IT OFF?

ALSO, did anyone notice that the CACHE results are no longer available as an option per search result? I wonder why Google decided to remove it. Was it giving away some hidden secrets that they dont want to see anymore? I used the cache option often. Now its gone.

Yeah, as mentioned by a few others the cache feature is still there.

Next to each search result is a little 'magnifying glass' icon. If you click that on any listing it will turn the option on or off. (the icon is next to each listing but will toggle the feature on/off for the whole page.)

For me it seems to be off by default and only toggles on after you click one of those icons. If I do that then I'll just click one again to toggle it off.

If for some reason it starts toggled on for you then you could try this addon for ff or chrome: Hide Google Instant Previews

    Hope that helps. :cool2:

    edit-
Huh?!... After looking at the image redstone posted I saw that the magnifying glass wasn't there. Maybe one of my ff plugin is affecting it?? So I did a search in ie to see. In ie apparently instead of the magnifying glass and cache showing next to each listing, there is a large ">>" icon next to whatever listing your mouse is over. If you click or hover over that icon it shows the preview (which includes the cache link). It only shows when you hover over or click the icon so if I just avoid that particular spot with the mouse it isn't a problem.

If you search for turn off google magnifying glass you'll find a lot of results on the topic. Maybe one of those will help.
