Looks like I might be back in the made for adsense business after all.
Those that follow my posts will know that Google destroyed my 120+ adsense site network a few years back
I (eventually) took this in good stead and worked at making better sites (or sites I thought were better - oh how foolish of me)
Everything hand or pro written, posted once, well researched, less obtrusive advertising, less spam linking. No spinning just syndication.

Well as of this morning all those sites are dead.

But also as of this morning 55% of my adsense sites (500 words per site - some with barely 300 words. Just a product review, contact us and a t&c page, generally the content is/was spun or plagirised) are all back and I'm making more money than I have for ages.

Read my posts going back 2 years - this is a rant I've had all this time.

    Well I was wrong

2 years of being wrong is a hard pill to swallow, but amazon and adsense earning of $1,500 in one morning (when in 2011 the total earning from these dormant sites for the ENTIRE YEAR was under $500)
The sites are SHIT - but now they are money shit
Some of the products I'm selling are now obsolete so I've spent the morning changing my advertising - and the money keeps coming in.
I'm page 1 for a MASSIVE TV brand, (before I was only page one for a specific product) and two of the sites I'm sharing page one with are crappier than mine. For a garden heater niche site I am behind a URL that just reports an Apache server error.

    Google you are bloody genius!

Thanks for giving us black hat guys such a MASSIVE BOOST
Wonder what those self righteous prats in the MOZ world are doing now...crying a lot I'd imagine - and selling their homes and pulling their kids out of private schooling.

I never enjoyed being so wrong so much.

(What's the betting they fix it quick though eh?..oh well)

It can't last - nothing this stupid can last.

Can you tell us more about the differences in backlink profiles of your old and new sites?

What else is different between your old and new sites?

Backlinks to my old sites. Well most of them I paid for a service from WSO. $19 bucks for one article written and sent out to so many WEB2's and so many article sites (typical stuff) these were then bookmarked. Many of these sites pre-date scrapebox (2009?) so I used my own bookmarks and stuff like pligg to add a bit more. Many were on EMD product related domain names (so some are unusable unless traffic converts very wierdly).

These days I do most stuff almost white hat. If you follow my sites (and I know some of you here do) I comment on other forums and blogs in the niche - build relationships, add value. Sure I post some unspun content (read my old posts - I've always banged on about how unspun works) etc etc. I do a little "spammy" stuff, but my main links identified by MS or TT or whatever (and Googles own webmaster tools) show my good relationship links.

    Those sites have been fecked
    The shit sites have risen

It's almost a straight swap with very few exceptions.

I've made more today than I made last week. But I can't see it lasting, it's just too fecking dumb to continue.

I think maybe the fact that you hadn't done anything to the old sites but you were actively creating links for the new sites might have something to do with it.

Regardless, there doesn't seem to be a logical explanation for it.

I agree with that. It seems like a "we are punishing you for making links" type thing.
But that brings the whole mess of negative SEO to the fore. Man I could start at number one,. Write some filthy comments, spam religious sites with profaniries and a backlink to my competitors. Or maybe 200,000 links to dating and porn forums. I could take out 10-15 sites a night if this worked.

If Google have done this they have opened a box they will wish they never touched. It will lead to the BIGGEST and nasties spam explosion the internet has ever seen.

If this gets confirmed tham Xrumer and Scrapebox get turned on and loaded with some tasty stuff.

Google - "you're gonna reap just what you sew"!

I agree. I read several negative SEO threads on here and as crazy as they all seemed, they were probably legit. It appears the time has come you can kill your competition just by SB and xrumer blasting. There's got to be another piece to this puzzle nobody has caught wind of yet. With the amount of crappy sites ranking, if you become that person who figures this out, then the amount of high ranking pages you can create in competitive niches will be huge.

I'm wondering if Google is watching to see huge spikes in backlinks to sites who used to rank #1 prior to this update. I think it would be very foolish at this point to increase any backlink campaigns for your tanked site.

    Again - excellent point.

My advice is to NOT backlink at all for a few days but ADD CONTENT instead.

I have had mixed results with the Google update. On the whole, not much has changed. I have dropped a position or two for some keywords and gone up for others. This is all except 1 site where i have gone from position 5 to position 88.

The link cycles i have done are all pretty much white hat (manual tier 1, spammy tier 2) and the link cycles are the same for every website. The only difference between the site that has fallen hugely is that i wasn't targeting many keywords. I have been optimising this site for 5 months now and other than a couple of cycles, the link cycles have focused on one keyword - i figured it was better to have a top 5 position for a competitive keyword rather than spread my efforts across 5 keywords and have 5 average positions. There are a couple of internal links which are only really there for SEO on each page but nothing too over the top.

Those who have fallen in the rankings, do you have many internal links and are you targeting 1 maybe 2 keywords rather than say 10? I'm trying to find some trends in an attempt to understand the algorithm change!

Good to hear but I am pretty sure Google is on their way to fix this as we speak... I mean come on, a website with NO content is ranked #1 for "Make Money Online". Not hating on your success if your websites have content -- it's just that since the most recent algorithm update, sites with basically no content are rising to the top.

Reading this makes me realise i must make crappy sites. lol so far *touch wood* most are going up.

The threads on here about the update worried me and because i was unsure what to do i just stopped building links at all.
All senuke projects have finished so there nothing going on. I have added a couple of posts to each one though.

Im actually scared to use any tools ive used every day for the last year right now.
But then im worried that by suddenly all links stopping im doomed anyway.
