Today I logged into webmaster tools and I found this message:
    You have more sites!
You're also a verified owner of these sites. Would you like to add them to your Webmaster Tools account?
(followed by a number of my sites)

My question is... how does google know that these are my sites if they are:
    -privacy protected
-on a shared server with a couple hundred other websites

And how do you go about keeping google from connecting my sites together like this?

    Thanks

No. I don't have adsense or analytics on any of these sites.

It's not affecting me at all right now, but I would really like to know how they know that I own these sites.

Did you ever verify those sites with google where you placed their verification meta tag on them? I have several sites on the same hosting account and so far google has only seen the ones I used to have in Google Web Tools. The other sites Google asked me to add were www.mydomain.com even though I already had mydomain.com added.

EDIT: I should also note Google did not include my other sites that have AdSense or AdSense for Domains on them.

My bad... I went back and looked through each site. Some had g analytics code, some had google web verification code in the meta tags.

But some didn't have any so I think that they may have been setup in the past.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious which I overlooked.

It just freaked me out when I logged in and saw the list because I didn't have any of these sites active in analytics or webmaster tools.

This is all coming about from goggle getting into the domain business. They have joined up with godaddy. You will also see that they will try to get you to renew your domain name with them. They will also soon be offering hosting as well.

so they are pulling site information and trying to pick up sales.
