    Hey guys,

I just read around a bit, and seems like quite a few people have been getting this dreaded message. Unfortunately, I got it today on my main site. Sucks.

Now, the weird thing is, the site is still ranking and is earning. In fact, my main keyword moved UP from #2 to #1 today. The only weird thing is, that some of my ad units are showing blank space. I explained that further in this thread:

    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/adsense/421475-lol-my-adsense-fail-blank-space.html

I'm still a bit confused..does this message from Google mean they will deindex my site in the next few days or something?

Yeeaahhh...your site should drop in rankings shortly...as in the next week or so...

Personally, my site dropped first and then a week later I got the WMT message, but I know of many people who got the message first and then later their ratings dropped...

so brace for the drop b/c most likely it's coming soon...

I recommend you de-optimize your anchor text and increase your social signals and you can probably increase the speed of your recovery, at least I found this to be true in my case...

    Best of luck!

If your content is original, you aren't going to get deindexed. But you are likely to get a slap in the coming weeks. Some people got that msg and escaped unharmed.

The thing is it's an algo penalty so you WILL come out of this on top if you want to. Just focus on building non PBN links and adding high quality content. As well as making sure generic anchor text like "click here" "http://mydomain.com" is about 50% plus of your backlinks.

As some of my old PBN's have fallen off and I've upped my generic Anchor text I have seen remarkable improvement. But it is page specific. My new pages and pages that didn't have PBN's or over optimized anchors are all still ranked at the top.

As I continue to correct my over optimization and my PBN's get removed on the specific pages that got hit, my rankings on those pages continue to improve.

It's really odd. I suppose it's better that you communicate with the Google management or support team to address this issue.

I doubt it, they are sending these messages out to thousands of site owners. They are phishing. This is the saddest spamming attempt by any reputable company that I have ever seen. Ignore it and continue building.

Whatever you do, do not answer this message or apply for re-inclusion. It is essentially admitting guilt.

I agree, don't submit reconsideration request unless you were able to remove all spammy backlinks and I don't know how this is possible...b/c its not possible, you would have to control all links you created and this isn't a possibility...

    My conclusion from this:

Don't use Google webmaster - no webmaster, no messages. :)

Yes, you are correct you won't see the messages, but this doesn't mean you won't receive the penalty.

You just won't know why your site tanked in the SERPs.

All the information in you GWT account is information google has, google is allowing you to see the information they have on your site.

This is the stupidest argument I have heard here on BHW...

And read the message carefully. I got this message for one of my sites but when I reread it, it was talking about one of my inner pages and not my homepage, that page got dropped from the top 1,000. So if its talking about inner pages then don't worry to much.. Plus I know it was talking about my inner pages since I haven't built links to my homepage in almost 6 month..

So it was not talking about my main homepage since I got this message last month and realized it this month.

But do brace for the drop, it takes a week or two to recoup so no big deal. You should have already read all the helpul threads by extrawinner and others, just play it smart from now on.

Not a good idea. Removing the backlinks means admitting that you put them there to begin with. Just ignore this sad Google spam and keep working.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll just doing what I'm doing.

I guess the only thing bugging me is that it seems like they have blocked Adsense on my site. Why is that? Anybody else have this happen?

Great posts so far, keep them coming. It looks like tons of people have gotten this message from Google over the last few months. Honestly, I now understand why most people here hate Google so much. I really f*ckin hate them right now. Bunch of hypocrites. Worked my ass off on this site over the last 5 months, and right when it starts making decent money..poof.

I read a lot of different threads, and it seems like when rankings drop, it's on more than just one page.
