I'm looking at the Search Query field and don't know how to read the numbers.

They data columns are labeled as follows:
    Query
    Impressions
    Clicks
    CTR
    Avg. Position

Is the "Avg. Position" where Google thinks I am at in the SERPs.

I have a keyword that is supposed to be in "Avg. Position" 8. It is not in the 8th SERP and it does not show up on the 8th page. Nor is it anywhere in between.
Why is this? Other keywords that rank in the 2nd and 3rd positions are there but after that the "Avg. Position" seem to be all haywire.
Anyway, can someong explain what I am seeing?

Thank you for considering my question
