I have watched this video about Google Wave here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_UyVmITiYQ

Looks interesting and although most can't access it yet, it looks like we will be able to monetize it or use it to make that cash.

The conversations and "testimonials" we could post would convert, I think...

    Anybody?

Looks like video conferencing. Don't see how that can be monetized. People won't want ads coming in as they collaborate. That would be the most distracting thing..

swinter84, I've been looking for people to discuss this with, as I think it's going to catch the world on fire when it starts to take hold.

This is not just video conferencing, although I'm sure it could handle a task like that with eloquence. This is an e-mail killer.

Obvious ways of monetizing would be training, consulting (giving advice on how to use Wave within an organization), and hosting the service, just like hosting an email service.

The most important thing I heard in the demonstration video was that you can host your own server, and it can communicate with other Wave servers...just like an email server. Without this capability, companies would never accept Wave over email because their conversations, documents, and so on would be out in cyber-space, out of their control.

I think when this is released, the best way to profit from Wave would be to offer a full package - consulting, training, implementation, hosting, and support. Most companies will be unaware of the benefits, will not have the vision to see where it could take them, and will be technically inept to where they need the whole deal.

I haven't thought too heavily on it, but there must be a way to monetize extension building as well...perhaps just building custom extensions for companies.

anything can be monetized and they may even see ads, google ads, as they video conference. youtube videos started to have ads, why not peoples video conferences.

also its not JUST video conferencing, its ANYTHING we create, therefore its like wordpress and we just have to think how to bring together different applications to create a new service which could be monetized. shit u could make an extension that just asks people to submit a email/zip submit then it lets them join a chat network, or watch a movie, or see porn (i dunno). you could prolly create freebie sites much easier too because your users could chat and show each other video of what they are doing and it would prove that your freebie site isnt a scam.

i dunno im just waiting on more info on this wave thing so i can brainstorm.

but what sucks is i think the real winners of this upcoming game are going to be developers

so if u got an idea and dont have the technical skills you are going to have to outsource a programmer to create it.

but lets see what happens with wave first..

    There are many uses.

It's like a single-topic forum thread, expanded and glorified with numerous features.

I see great potential for monetizing.

For example, you can start a topic that you specialize in and put in some great content and it will grow on its own. Then you monetize. Perfect.

Now if you know Java or Python, it is even better.
