Google update just now? 10/4?

I lost from 10 to 30 positions for all my keywords October 1st on a website on which the only blackhat SEO I did was social signals for 5$. I gained everything back this morning.
now rising higher than I was before

Have a couple sites that are loving this update, yes Ive thrown in a couple bsts on them so obviously they do not have 100% super high-quality squeaky clean whitehat whatever backlinks

Checked all my sites today ... Still all around pages 20-30 when 2 days ago they were on 1-3.... Still too early to panic
Exactly the same situation for me, just been watching them over the weekend and some are starting to slowly creep up, hopefully it should not be too much hassle to get back in the top 5 again.

My only site went from #18 to 130. Then next morning after the update it got to #69 and now it's been around 24 hours and it's sitting on 139. Still waiting and hoping.

Mine has dropped from #43 to #136. Then Back up to #91 and now rising up to #52.

Just hope, it may return!

What I don't get is the ranking drops I see on my sites don't correlate with traffic. I'm still getting organic traffic for my keywords...

Untouchable what program are you using for tracking the keywords ?Seems very cool... my websites have been hit too, the ones i barely updated seems to be on the same position.

This is the exactly MOST strange issue - Also my home page is nowhere to be found while my category pages appeared in SERPs!

What's going on here?????

Does anyone have an idea why it's happening?

yes,the same to me.my main keywords with home page is nowherw, but category page has serps.

Same for me for one of my websites. My home page which was previously in position 3 for my main keyword, is now nowhere to be seen. Instead an internal page is now ranking for the same keyword but on page 7 !

Seems like a nice Penguin penalty for my homepage.

If I don't have any improvements in the next few days, I have two ideas:

1) Remove and disavow all dodgy backlinks - see what happens

2) Alternative solution - and see what happens
a) Duplicate current home page to new page (domain.com/home for example)
b) Create a javascript redirect from domain.com to domain.com/home
c) BUT disallow access to the javascript for SE bots.
d) Add contextual link from domain.com to domain.com/home (for link juice)
e) Change all links in my HQ private blog network from domain.com to domain.com/home for ranking

Ok, you'll be fine untill the next penguin refresh .
Why don't you try to diagnose what caused to be hit by penguin ?

Shit, I got hit as well, although I am mainly seeing changes in my short term keywords :/

luckily most of my highly converting longtail money kewords stayed on top this time..

Has anyone that orders regularly services from BHW world NOT been affected in a negative way? I notice NONE of the sellers have commented at all on this update!!!? Surprise.
@leith. @bigbuddy, @detox Etc care to share your experiences thus far from the updates?

Interesting inquiry there. Do you think you'll get a reply ;) ?

Nothing out of the ordinary here but yes, there have been a FEW jumps. Today, some clients ranking returned back stronger just like others have claimed in this thread. However, on the whole, our rankings are still solid and this update is no way near deadly as the recent one targeting russian links. The update hasn't been rolled out yet completely and it looks like it wasn't going after a particular set of links. A few of my "white hat" sites went down the SERPs and these sites contain nothing but high quality links along with super unique content. Therefore, my best advice would be to stop panicking and wait a few days for the full thing. As many have said above and in the previous posts, this is probably the first step from Google to try and scare you so don't go off building more links unless you want that red flag raised.

I know a few friends who sell high quality link packages and they've been affected really badly.. so it appears that even the highest quality of sites have been hit in this update. We'll only see what else is in store for us in the next few days.

Yup, disavow links in order to give Google a ton more data about "spammy" backlinks. What could possibly go wrong participating in Google's BS?
