I just took #1 on Google for a search term. I even beat Wikipedia, but then the question is, why dont I get as much traffic as G said I would? It should get between 550k and 690k searches a month. Besides, I got #1 for several other terms as well, according to Google worth about 700k searches a month. Haven`t seen a lot of increase in the traffic, so is their estimates REALLY off? The last 16 hours I`ve got like 50 uniques. That`s crap..

700K searches a month.. i dunno what keyword u are targeting but LOL? Even general keywords like "credit card" or "bodybuilding" or whatever dont even have a searchvolume as big as that.

Did you use google tool on "exact" match or "broad" match?

Use EXACT match only when using google keyword tool.

and still.. when u use exact match google keyword tool can be a little off. Use adwords ppc to get the 100% correct search volume ;)

and a little tip... traffic is not important.. its about conversion. Some of my sites have 25 visitors daily but they make $500 a month.

It`s the broad. I got all my keywords as #1... :) when using exact I still should get about 100k hits a month..

What would you do with my keyword if I gave it to you?

I'm just curious, and maybe with my experience I can findout WHY you dont get this amount of visitors to your website.

Don't worry, I won't steal your keyword. I'm way to busy with other projects. I am here to help you :)

spot one on google can't guarantee you will get traffic .. it's JUST CHANCES for more traffic :) ... and more than that this numbers are just estimates about google volume search they will never make public the true volume of search lol

You are wrong about that one. If your pre-research is good enough you will succeed EVERYTIME recieving expected traffic.

If you just randomly try to rank for couple of keywords you just picked off from somewhere.. yes then u are right.

Well, Just from my experience. Google adwords tool is way off. I've ranked for keywords that said I should Get 33k searches a month and more etc. etc. and I never received more than 25 unique a day. but you still gotta remember even if you are the #1 spot you are still gonna recieve the majority of the traffic for that keyword but not all. You still got 9 other spots on the 1st page to deal with.

Nossie - credit card gets well more then 700k searches a month. It gets in the millions. If you see something that says otherwise I'd be interested to view that source.

To the OP, are you looking at Google searches per month or Worldwide searches per month?

google overstates the volume so they can click on their own ads on adwords/adsense search, I think they use packetflip to fool you unless you use analytics, then they just make IPs & stats up.

broad search is simply to wide. You need to look at exact. Rember one thing here.....it's REAL people. They do not have to click on your site....I always persume you'll get about 10%-20% of what Goolge says if you are top 3.

so if Google adwords says it gets 2,000 per month bank on getting about 200 -400 vistitors per month. 90% of those are tyre kickers....go from there. It's not that easy to get new customers.

I think the values are too big - way too big.
Who knows - maybe they are trying to entice us into paying for clicks?

Guess I need to build me a few more links.. No wonder I`m not getting any traffic, I`m not ranking.. how the heck could I miss this..

This is typical Google behavior. You'll dance around a bit before big G finally gives you a permanent spot somewhere. ALso, not all datacenters have you at the same rank. Keep building sites, and keep building links. It will happen, but you have to be diligent.
