Google is testing a feature that displays live-updating search results as you type your search query, no keystroke on "Enter" or "Return" required.

When you start typing, the search box is relocated to the top of the site. Results are changed to match what you type as you go.

You didn`t get it... Now you don`t have to hit "Search" or enter to look for that key term...

I am doing it right now and it is same as before. As you type, Google suggest keywords based on what is being typed in search box. I am not hitting Enter or Search button.

I figured this out yesterday and it annoyed the hell out of me. I was typing and thought I was having a seizure with all the quick pages changing. I don't like it.

    Wow. Talk about real time!

Whether this particular project is bust or not, the internet is starting to become 100% real time. Just think where we were 10 years ago. lol.

    Thanks for the share! :)

that's why seems to be a good idea reading the linked article above as well (the answer's in it), especially if you don't know how Google and usually "everybody" tests new features: "These live search results are not available to the public at large. Google regularly tests new features with very small selections of users."

Search as you type could seriously affect slow loading sites. SEO will change if this is out of beta tests.

it will affect people who have slow internet connection or a dial up and i guess this feature will be pretty annoying unless the user has a fast computer and fast internet

imho it would be pretty annoying even if the user has a fast computer and fast internet connection

if Google is serious with this feature (and they seem to be pretty serious :)), i just hope it'll never be the default, just an alternate way to search, what you can turn on/off whenever you want...

This sucks in terms of SEO. Casual browsers and non internet savvy users will not end up on our long tailed keywords as often. I guarantee that if this releases, the traffic for long tail KW will drop.

I wouldn't say the end, but it will be harder for anyone to enter the market since the results will be lower than it is now. A lot of people will drop out as well, so it will be easier for experienced users to compete. However, the earnings will drop as well so there's no real advantage here.
