http://mashable.com/2010/02/17/google-remail/ Google?s massive acquiring spree marches forward today. The newest company to be enveloped by the search giant? reMail, an iPhone app that provides advanced email search capabilities for the iPhone. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founder and CEO Gabor Cselle announced the acquisition on his blog earlier today. He is the former VP of Engineering for Xobni and also a former engineer at none other than Google. Silicon Valley seed funding firm Y Combinator is an investor in reMail. Don?t be fooled: this acquisition is entirely a talent acquisition. In the announcement, Gabor reveals that both companies have decided to discontinue the reMail iPhone app, and that Gabor will become a product manager for Gmail. While we lament the loss of the app (it?s quite useful), we understand that Google would rather dedicate their new talent?s abilities towards Gmail rather than an iPhone app. Recent acquisitions by Google include social search startup Aardvark, display ad tech firm Teracent, and mobile ad network AdMob.
