Google still showing 2 URLs from same domain on same SERP

    Hi,

I've been using a simple "method" on my ORM strategy. When a negative result showed up on Google first page for a keyword (a company name, mainly), I ranked another URL from the same domain, which wasn't negative itself. That resulted in Google replacing the bad one for the good one and my client being happy for a neater page 1 on Google.

From latest Google algo update, it looks like Google is not doing that anymore. I mean, I had a negative URL ranking on first page all alone. I started working on another URL from the same domain and now they are both on first page. I waited a month, but they both still show up on first page. Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Try creating web2.0 pages and use quality positive content and promote that pages, so that you can get all that in 1st page and the negative page will get down.

Thanks, but this thread is about Google replacing (or not) URLs on SERPs. Something that Google used to do, but it looks like now it works in a different way...

I thought one of the latest updates was supposed to fix this... I guess something messed it up or they decided to return to the old way.

Maybe if you sculpt your internal backlink structure you could bring the negative page down.

Sometimes double listing for a given site might show up, so i would say its a dangerous strategy.
What i would rather do is control the top 10 SERP's and charge a retainer from the client to maintain the control over the top 10 results.

That's what I usually do (control top 10), but sometimes you need to use another strategy while conquering all SERPs on page 1 :-/ Thanks
