I want to scrape for fun and profit, so I figured out how to scrape the number of Google search results per word (from a 150,000 word dictionary).

It's working right now, and is compiling into a big 2-column Excel file as I write this.

I did not have a target market for it - who can use this kind of information? Is it useful?

    Thanks for any advice.

It doesn't seem like a whole lot of information really. Obviously one word keywords are hyper competitive and Big G will have a lot of results for all the words. If you find a single word for which this is not the case, and the word is monetizable somehow than perhaps you will be on to something. It's cool to sew your wild oats with such a simple scraping exercise anyway for learning purposes.

Some fun facts from scraping the letter A...

The range of results numbers is from 25,270,000,000 to 124.

"and" is tied with "A" for most results - the 25.27 billion number above.

"AM" is lucky #13 with 8.95 billion, perhaps proving AM radio is not dead?

"Alex" is the first person I found, at #32 with 4 billion - I discounted Al and Art (which were higher) due to lack of clarity on use. Sorry to the Als and Arts out there.

    On to B and beyond...

I have a number of one word keywords at position 11. I only need to nudge it one spot up somehow.
