Google does not remove the links
    World.

Microsoft calls for Google to remove 500 000 links from the results list in the search engine. Google refuses.

    It writes Politiken.dk.

Most of the links that Microsoft wants to get rid of points on pirate websites where users can download hacked versions of Microsfts programs.

Google responds to calls from Microsoft to publish statistics on those who want the URLs removed from söksajten. The reasoning is that the requirement threatens freedom of information.

"We believe that transparency is crucial to future of the Internet. When something gets in the way of information freedom of movement we mean that they will prevail transparency in relation to what the obstacle consists of," writes Google in a blog post.

According to Google increases the demand generally for links to be removed. Among other things, from governments around the world. Google is thus the other way and choose instead to publish statistics on the requests.

The number who want to remove addresses from the search engine has increased substantially in recent years.

"Today it is not uncommon to 250 000 requests a week which is more than during all of 2009," writes Google.
