I have a PR 2 blog that is in the 5th rank in Google. The blog that ranks first has a PR of 3. I have a lot more inlinks/backlinks than the first rank website, and I also have a lot of pages of unique content, and I also receive a lot more traffic. That website on the first result has only one page! My stats are higher than these blogs on top of me, yet I am still ranking lower. How do I get to the top of the search result?

Edit: The other blogs on top of me also have one landing page and they have lower stats than me. Only their pagerank is higher than me (just one pagerank higher).

You can try getting more reputable backlinks(edu's, etc.). That will help you move up Google SERP's.

Get the site above you to link to you!
Thanks but there is no way the site on top will link to me. They are all competing with me! :D

Thanks for this advice, I will try this out. Do the .edu blogs need to be a do-follow or do no-follow .edu blogs still help? How do I go about finding these types of blogs, or is there a list anywhere I can use?

Keep Hashing out more backlinks with the keyword u are competing with.

Higher PR=They have more backlinks=They Rank Higher

If traffic made a difference then everybody would just buy junk traffic and would use traffic generators and it would be super easy to rank high on google.

That's the strange thing though, Yahoo says that I have double the backlinks. I have a lot more inlinks than my competitors.

Sorry, just another question I have to ask. Does getting backlinks on old pages get counted on Google or should I do it with newer blog posts?

It depends. Old pages can be good especially if they have PR, I'm pretty sure they get crawled less than new pages though. If I were you, I would go with new pages.

You could have 123213213 pr0 backlinks and 100 pr8 backlinks would still probably get you a better rank

You know they have less links -- have you determined whether their links are higher quality? Do you suspect that they're doing some BH? You may have to dig a bit deeper to get to the bottom of your mystery.

get the exact same links that they have. it's always part of my research when i build a new site - if i think i can get the same links they've got, then i know ive got a much better chance of knocking them out of the way...

I know there are blogs that are pr6+ but they still rank shitty because they have little to no content, its not all about PR, links = PR but links also = higher rankings... How old the website is also relates to both etc.

Yes most of their backlinks are from blogs.

for .edu and .gov sites try a google search like this
site:.edu links can also sub. .edu for .gov like
search
site:.edu/links
or
site:.gov/links
site:.edu/add
etc.
you can get lots of .edu and .gov sites just play around with different searches.
can also try inurl:.gov/link
etc.
