I have a client that wants me to add them to Google Places but do I ask the client to create a Gmail account and send me the login details (seems unprofessional) or do I
Create one for him but it will be from my IP.

Wouldn't he want to be the owner of the account since it's his business? I think so.

If he doesn't care, then you can make it. IP doesn't make a difference as long as it's a legit business.

Seems a bit more professional if you ask him to do it and explain why? Also gives him a sense of control.

I'd get him to make it. then he has control.
He will feel much more confident and if he ever needs to reverify it.
he will be able to do so.
