If google places has a website listed as part of its listing, does the site on that listingd serp rank and backlinks determine whether that site is at the top of google places? I have a lead booked for next wednesday and will be my first SEO client if successfull (thanks BHW). The actual keywords he wants to rank for will be a piece of cake hopefully but I wasent sure about Google places as i have never tried that myself before. Like I said this is my first potential client and i need as much advice as possible guys.

I have prepared a pitch and im pretty dam good at closing leads from previous experience of working in other industries/companys. Thats not the problem, problem Is i dont know what i should price him. Im looking to try and get a 3 month contract with him minimum, have you guys any idea how much I should be charging for that in £GBP. Also has anyone got any generic contracts for SEO that I could take a look at?

All your advice regarding Google places and dealing with SEO clients would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It seems like you want to offer Google Places as an add on service. Ranking in Google Places is different from standard SEO, but one of the main factors is the number of quality citations.

I guess you could do it one of two ways. Learn to rank in Google Places on a test site, then offer it to a client when you're more confident in your abilities, or get the client first and learn on the job. The latter option may be more appealing, but if you pitch that you'll deliver a page one listing and fail to deliver, the client may not be too happy! ;)

Pricing would be dependent on the business and keyword competition. But, it's typical to offer a setup fee for the initial Google Places listing and then a monthly payment for maintenance. For more info., look in the downloads section.
