I am in the process of ranking all my keywords#1 before I lease the site im creating.

I have a virtual phone njmber from my area which is good because I can use that in the places listing.

Do I just make up an address?

And if I do and then it ranks high in GP, when I change it to the clients address will that mess up my rankings?

There are no google places for my keyword in exact match so it should be easy to get in the 7 pack for broad match.

Hum, if you mean google place from google maps , you'll have a letter with a confirmation code. It's a 2 weeks process dunno if it can fit you

Heads up, you may not be lucky enough to phone verify the GPP. You may need to postcard verify.

And if I'm not mistaken, when you change information you need to re-postcard verify, and it may mess with your rankings a bit.

I use a UPS box for my GPP. I've heard some people not having good experiences with them. My page was ranked 1st for my main keyword, I changed the phone number, and was no where to be found. Now I'm on page 2 for places.

EDIT:

Thinking about it now, I've heard of your method before and thought it was dead.

But wouldn't it work, if you build a site, and a place page. Hide the address on the GPP, and just have the number and web address. And just have the phone number redirect to the "renter/client's" number (I dont know if that exists, but I'm assuming there's something like it.) Then you just have a simple website where you can change their info.
