Until last week, websites that used black hat SEO strategies to improve their Google search rankings were heavily punished due to their not so ethical practices of things such as using link farms to boost their search rankings.

Google had put a stop to the success of these type of questionable practices by identifying them and making sure they got pushed down in the search rankings.

Link spamming is stands for black hat search engine optimization. There are few method which are mentioned spam in google’s list. Directory submission. Bookmarking submission.

With the recent update of Penguin into Googles Core Algorithm, the harsh, measurable punishment of lower ranking in search results will no longer occur.

Now, the punishment for deploying shady practices like link farming, is going to be the lost time and money wasted deploying such unproductive and ineffective strategies.

The new "punishment" will involve the links being evaluated using a quality valuation/devaluation filter, resulting in links that raise a red flag being ignored, reducing the value of those links, making them basically useless.

One concern that might come to mind is that if the punishment is now more of a passive punishment, just ignoring the links, rather than punishing the offending links/pages by pushing them further down the search results, are we going to start seeing more of the previously punished sites appearing back into the first few pages of the search results?

Although possible, it doesn’t seem likely in the long run.

By implementing this new strategy, Google is simply making sure that crooked practices like link farming that provide no real value to the end user, will continue to be unsuccessful without the actual act of punishment via lower placement in search results.
