Hey all, my friend just sent me this:

I?ve Been Hit!

Has your rankings suffered as a result of the latest Google changes? Did you get one of those dreaded link message alerts in your Webmaster tools account?
According to Cutts, Google wants to see ?earnest effort? on your part in eliminating those links from your profile. Once you remove them or at least make an effort, you can submit a reconsideration request. Google will then consider how much ?progress? you made.

Sullivan asks, ?What if you can?t get rid of bad links pointing to a page, should we get rid of the page??

Cutts responded, ?If it?s not an important page, you could. Or you could at least document the effort to remove the links and share it with us.?

Good news! Google is discussing the possibility of a ?disavow-this-link tool that will allow webmasters to ?disavow? any suspect links they see pointing to their sites. Cutts said even though Google has implemented many protective measures to combat negative SEO, there has been a lot of discussion on the topic. If the disavow link materializes, it will be ready in a matter of months.

If you found this helpful, please hit me up with a thanx and a rep.

Cheers ya all....

Penguin is an algorithmic penalty, not a manual penalty. You can only do reconsideration requests for manual penalty. It sounds like you are describing a manually penalty especially if you got a message in WMT.

One of my sites got hit by penguin. I didn't get a message in WMT and when i did a reconsideration request, i got a message back saying no manual penalty has been placed on my site.

Negative SEO wins land and "many protective measures to combat negative SEO" is just a story for babies.

Instead of creating "quality content," now we can spend our time disavowing backlinks. What joy.

The far easier solution would be for Google to not count the questionable links at all. Apparently they can't/don't want to stop paid links, so millions of webmasters will waste billions of hours scanning trillions of backlinks to pick out the bad apples to disavow. Sounds pretty asinine to me.

Same with one of my sites as well. No manual penalty according to Big G...

Aint nobody at G gonna review your efforts to remove a link. They can't even be bothered to respond to AdWords and AdSense users that push decent sums of $$s with anything more than an automated e-mail.

But thanks for the heads up, if you have a lot of spam links you can remove and you've been penalized for them it makes sense that removing them is gonna help; although usually its no easy feat to remove a backlink on someone elses site especially if you were pumping thousands of them.

How much progress I made, huh? I'm tired of that guy, honestly.
Kids would understand him, because kids are wonderful creatures who take bullshit for granted.

IMO, user your time to make more links than trying to remove links. Don't work for google, work for yourself.
